Replacing Stinger steering wheel, Carbon?

The leather on my 2019 Stinger steering wheel is extremely soft, I ended up with a bunch of surface scratches on the top and bottom of the steering wheel (mostly from my watches).

There is an OEM wheel on the shop site for a reasonable price but given I am swapping the wheel are there perhaps better more durable options? Having the base and top (that are normally smooth leather) in carbon fiber would prevent the scratching from happening again.

Any suggestions?

thanks I've seen listings for the Element 6 carbon wheel but apparently its a custom order and not stocked anywhere.

yeah they're made to order. I doubt you'll find one ready to be shipped. Here is a link to OEM versions Steering Wheel - 2020 Kia Stinger

I searched for 2020, but you can change that and just search "steering wheel". Pretty sure they're the same though
 
You will destroy the carbon one as well if you are resting your watch on it all the time...
 
I switched out watches. I have a bunch and my Omega's with the steel bands did the damage. I have rubber and leather bands with enclosed clasps that don't scratch. I wish I had caught it sooner though.
 
Force of habit, also the top of the watches scratches the underside of the wheel. The leather is stupid soft. My last vehicle had a leather steering wheel, never held a scratch.

I installed a carbon fiber/alcantara wheel in my car not even an hour ago and I can already say it'll be a must-do mod for all my cars going forward. I went with a matte finish because glossy is a little too flashy for my tastes. I think matte might make any future watchband damage harder to show up than glossy, but best to ask whomever is building the wheel their opinion on that. Either way, I don't think you'll regret it.

Instead of buying an over 1K cf steering wheel...i went with the cf sew on cover... this is the other option and save over 1K ha.

D Cut Alcantara wheel for $235. I really like the one my car came with. So much so I didn’t want to replace it with the full carbon wheel and simply replaced the trim with carbon as a compromise.
