Replacing just two tires?

Hey guys, I have an '18 GT2 with a staggered tire setup; 225/40-19 Front, 255/35-19 Rear. After about 25k miles, the front tires have a lot of tread wear on the outside edges but the rear tires are holding up great. Has anyone in this scenario replaced just the front or rear tires with heavy wear and kept the other two? Incindently, the warranty on these tires is 50k miles but that's cut in half if the front and rear tires are different sizes. TIA!

Running Continental Extremecontact DWS 06, in case you're curious. They've been great in Wyoming weather which is often an extreme version of all four seasons. I'd say the snow performance approaches that of dedicated snow tires, though not quite on that level.

Lol. Cowboy is one of my favorite people. :D

I've done this twice, but it was the rear tires that got replaced, then 4K miles later the fronts: then the rears, and now I'm about due for another set of fronts. I get outer edge wear on the LF tire first, then the RF tire looks to be catching up, but I change tires before it is done. (Still wondering how to increase camber, so that I can even out the wear on the front tires and get a couple more thousand miles on them.)

@tmjohl is yours AWD?
In any case, I would advise to get the exact same type of tires. I changed only my rears using a different brand of tires (but still UHP) and the car was both understeering and oversteering like crazy. (RWD)
I was forced to change the fronts as well.

I changed out my rear tires only because they were worn but my fronts were still good. I'm AWD running factory sizes with PS4 up front and PS4S out back and 20mm spacers in the rear. No issues at all to report.

Same scenario for me with the LF outer edge first, then the RF catching up. My driving is mostly in a town in which the highest speed limit is 30 MPH so maybe I'm just not driving in a way that burns up the rear tires. They're really in great shape.

Yes, AWD. 2018 GT2 AWD. I did purchase basically the same tire. I've been running Continental Extremecontact DWS 06s on all fours. This time I purchased the Continental Extremecontact DWS 06 Plus. The primary difference seems to be that the Plus model uses a slightly different compound in order to improve the wet and snow/ice performance. But I don't expect any issues with under/oversteer because the Plus model has an identical tread pattern to the original.
