From the manual.....

Smart key
Remote start
You can start the vehicle using the
remote start button (3) on the smart key.
To start and stop the vehicle remotely:
1. Press the door lock button (1), and
then the hazard warning lights blink
once to alert you.
2. Press the remote start button (3) for
more than 2 seconds to start engine
within 4 seconds after pressing the
door lock button (1).
3. If you want to stop the engine, press
the remote start button (3) again.
If someone without a designated smart
key rides your vehicle whilst remote
starting, the engine is automatically
stopped for security.
NOTICE
After remotely starting the engine, the
engine will turn off automatically after
10 minutes if you do not ride your vehi-
cle.
CAUTION
The remote start will not work if you
exceed the operating distance limit
(about 10 m).
Avoid idling the engine for prolonged
periods to obey the emission regula-
tions in your country.
Laws in your country may restrict the
use of remote start.
You should check country regulations
before using this remote starting sys-
tem.
The vehicle must be in P (Park) for the
remote start function to start.
If the bonnet or the tailgate is opened,
you can’t start the engine remotely

Basically,
Push the Lock Button at the top of the fob. (Irrespective of whether the car is already locked)
Push and Hold the middle button on the fob continuously for six seconds
Be within 10 metres of the vehicle
Engine should start.

it's funny that the manual says this because in my experience, i can be about 10x farther away than 10m and the car will start remotely for me.

i regularly start my car from inside my workplace (which is located far away from the parking lot) and i can see it start up via the 3x blinking lights.

Like all good companies they are going to provide the best scenario.

The one thing I would emphasise is it is not two seconds

Mine is consistently count to six, one cat dog......

anybody know of a way to get the heated seats and wheel to come on if you use remote start?
I used to have a grand cherokee where you could set that in the menu.

It's also annoying to me that when I use remote start (which is seriously about 4 times a year) it makes my climate system full auto and basically changes every single setting from heat level, fan speed, fan location, etc. It would also be great if there was a setting to leave the damn climate settings however they were left.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

There is nothing in the Kia Stinger manual that describes this, however....

If you google Auto.Controls seat warmer you will find this link to the EV6, which is the same for the Stinger seat warmer and ventilation.

Auto. controls that use climate control settings (if equipped)

The temperature of the driver’s seat warmer, air ventilated seat and heated steering wheel is automatically controlled depending on the inside and outside temperature of the vehicle when the vehicle is running.

Operation

  • Select Settings → Vehicle → Seat → Heating/Ventilation → Auto. Controls That Use Climate Control Settings → Steering wheel warmer/Seat warmer/ventilation on the infotainment screen.
  • The heated steering wheel and seat warmer/ventilation defaults to the OFF position whenever the vehicle is restarted. However if the "Auto. controls that use climate control settings" is ON, the heated steering wheel and seat warmer/ventilation will turn on and off depending on the inside and outside temperature.
Only by trial have I been able to determine when this switches on automatically whilst driving.

The seat warmer, steering wheel warmer only switches on automatically when the outside temperature is below 10C. It has switched on automatically twice for me in two years because in winter it is rarely below 10C when I am driving.

For Information......

The seat ventilation switches on automatically when the outside temperature is above 20C.

This seems to be dependent on the interior temperature, the climate control setting and the outside temperature so it varies on the day. Sometimes when the outside temperature is above 20C it will take a while for the seat ventilation to switch on automatically. If it is already warm inside the ventilation switches on straight away. Varying the climate control setting will increase or decrease and/or switch on the seat ventilation.

I can assume the seat warmer/steering wheel works the same way and that operating it remotely should be the same as pushing the start button.

Note: On a drive just now the outside temperature was 22C so the seat ventilation should be prepared to come on (above 20C). It did not come on for some time when I had the cabin climate control temp set to 24.5C. But once (I presume) the cabin temperature reached this point the seat ventilation switched on automatically. On exiting the vehicle and entering 10 minutes later the seat ventilation came on straight away.

Remote Start

By remote starting the vehicle just now, the seat ventilation automatically came on and the climate control setting and fan speed was exactly how I left them. I presume it works exactly the same on seat warming.

Note I never have the Climate Control "pushed"/ set to AUTO. I leave it in manual operation.

The seat ventilation and heating is controlled automatically anyway as long as the tick boxes are set through the infotainment menu.

Presumably today, all the parameters of 1. Outside Temp. 2. Inside Temp. 3. Climate Control Setting were met to initiate auto seat ventilation.

I never use Auto either on my climate, the only time it reverts to Auto is if I remote start it
