Good morning.

When I purchased my '19 GT, it was missing both fobs. So I took it to my local dealership and dropped it off for 2 new fobs. They programmed it of course and off I went.

Soon after, with help from someone here, I found my original window sticker which showed it had remote start. Thinking I had another great piece, I attempted in all the methods listed to get it to start. The only thing it does is beep the horn twice. I took the window sticker back to the dealership and showed them that they missed this part when they programmed it. The manager first said that I had the incorrect fob. I told him I understand that I may have the second fob for remote start but I still need it programmed, I would happily purchase the second fob. After waiting a bit longer, he came back and told me that remote starts are installed at the dealership, not the factory.

Is this guy for real?

Joe

My remote start was installed by the dealership.

yes, until the 22 us model year, remote start was a port/dealer installed item like puddle lamps..

however that still doesn't explain why the remote start procedure doesn't work if it was actually installed or why the remote fob was missing... You were missing both main fobs??? how did you drive the car until you got the fobs?

Thank Vipe.

I was missing all fobs. I had it towed to the dealership.

As an aside, I know Access offers remote start through the app, any thoughts here?

The USA models 2018-2021, did not have uvo link which allows remote access through the app unfortunately... other countries including canada did ... for the states, 22+ models got full UVO link.

i'm assuming you tried the steps under the smart key line to see if it'll start??
unfortunately, my car doesn't have the kia remote start module so i can't assist.

actually, looks like you might need to pair the new fobs.: but it looks like you need the original transmitter fob... boo.

I simply installed the Accessorides remote start module with takeover. It uses the smart key fob, and with the takeover option, it doesn't kill the engine when you unlock and open the door like the Kia one does.

Thank you all. I was not aware of the need to pair the fob, which makes sense for sure. My fob(s) not being the originals should be the answer(?).
