2018 GT2 AWD - 117,000 miles
Problem - when stopped at idle the red oil light will illuminate - if I give it the slightest bit of throttle the light will turn off. The light does not come on when driving only at a stop when idling. Oil has been changed regularly every 5,000 miles. Oil level read full on the dip stick. The car is stock only Eibach springs installed. I have an appointment at the Kia dealer Sept 18th (soonest they had available). Anyone else experienced this?

Flashing oil light suggests either you have low oil pressure or the sending unit is malfunctioning. They will have to take a reading off the engine using a proper gauge. Lets hope it's the latter in the above.

Is there any (extended) warranty in force?

Damn it @JSolo ya beat me to it  . I was mid stream typing similar thoughts.
I agree with his thoughts

^^You know what they say.. sh!t or get off the pot :)

Unfortunately this was/is a common problem on pre 2012 G37 (370z) with the vq37 engine. There's an oil galley gasket that fails internally resulting in low oil pressure. No visible outside leaks. Continued operation results in oil starvation. Supposedly 2012+ MY engines use an updated metal gasket instead of paper.

If it was my car, I'd stop driving immediately and have it towed to who ever will be doing the diag.

Thank you for the reply’s. I don’t have a Kia warranty but I do pay for CarShield. The Kia dealership said they work with CarShield. This would be the 1st time filing a claim so I will see how it all turns out. I’ll update when I know more.

funny you mention that... i knew someone that had two 370z's and both went through 2 motors for that issue... lol

I was going to say check the oil pressure sensor but it looks like it behind the alternator..

Any update? I’m experiencing this myself at 85,000 miles.

Did you ever get a clear diagnosis?
