Afe has been my #1 option I’ve been eye balling but oil filtered since I’m out here in AZ but haven’t really seen or read much reviews about it that’s why I’ve been so iffy. Question , I know aFe are Inclosed; are they still louder than stock ? Or still similar ?Your probably going to get about 10 or more different answers to this question as those that have changed/upgraded CAI have all believed they got thier money’s worth.
For me I went with the aFe dry filter system, still an enclosed system but it gives better airflow & allows the car to breath better, everything else with the engine & intakes are stock.

Had them about a week, car is otherwise stock. A bit louder than factory, I can hear the squelch when I let off of full throttle, but it's not nearly as loud as open elements.Afe has been my #1 option I’ve been eye balling but oil filtered since I’m out here in AZ but haven’t really seen or read much reviews about it that’s why I’ve been so iffy. Honestly I’m looking for the best option to get the most power out of mines and consistently. I do like the sounds that open ended can have but I’m sure by combining the aFe with a good set of BOV I can get that ( woosh) or just hear the turbos more and still have a good CAI system that’s not pulling in hot air. If you just want woosh sounds, get some 45 or 90 elbows and filters, save yourself a few hundred.
With the AFEs you'll here the BOVs but you won't hear much spool unless the windows are down. They're in my opinion one of the better options for power and keeping pre-turbo IATs down because of the fully enclosed design. Compared to stock, you get quicker spool, ill try to post some JB4 logs of before and after reinstalling tommorow.Honestly I’m looking for the best option to get the most power out of mines and consistently. Yes thank you! What BOV setup are you running ? Im looking at the ADD W1 pro series atmWith the AFEs you'll here the BOVs but you won't hear much spool unless the windows are down. Thank you !Intakes are all close performance wise. Pick the one you like the best that's in your budget and go with it. I wouldn't worry to much about enclosed or open either on a turbo car. The turbo's compress and super heat the air anyway. That's why you have an intercooler to help cool the air back down.
Yeah I was actually looking into that as well but wasn’t sure if there any down side to doing that? As long as I plug up the hole I should be fine correct ?Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you just want BOV woosh, you can do it with any intake. Stock, Aftermarket, whatever. Just disconnect the hoses that go from the BOV to the intake to have them vent to atmosphere, just make sure you plug/seal the hole on the intake side so it's not sucking in unfiltered air. Sure the system will no longer receive the expected extra tiny bit of air you'd get from the BOV's, but it's not significant. I've seen a few folks running that way.
how has the AEM been for you ?Quiet - aFe
More woosh sounds - AEM
AEM was out of stock everywhere when I was shopping, wish I had actually been able to get one at the time. I went with the Stillen, I don't recommend it. It is an absolute pain to install and doesn't seem like its worth the money for something so fiddly. Also you have to disassemble the entire thing to clean the filters, not a fan.how has the AEM been for you ?
Just curious. Why are you reinstalling? Do you put the OEM back on for the dealer maintenance check to maintain warranty? It looks like a fairly straight forward installation procedure. I have a set or aFe on order and VT snorkels. Expecting aFe mid to late Oct delivery. With the AFEs you'll here the BOVs but you won't hear much spool unless the windows are down. When I get around to it, I will be replacing it with the AEM and selling this one.
