Reasonable Prices for Kia Stinger GT1 (RWD and AWD) with and without Quick Lease Buyout in Los Angeles area

This post is a post I also just submitted to REDDIT. I am expecting to purchase a Stinger GT1 shortly (maybe within the next couple of weeks). I decided on the GT1 over the GT due to the larger infotainment screen and the additional safety features.

Question: What can I expect to pay for a NEW 2020 or 2021 Kia Stinger GT1 (RWD or AWD) in High Chroma Red both with and without the lease buy out approach. As I put over 23K miles on my car per year, I am sometime nervous about doing the Quick Lease Buyout since If I miss a fine detail I do not want to be stuck with a lease for which I could not possibly keep the mileage low enough.

Since MSRP is $45,490.00 I am hoping I can get the car for under $40,000 before taxes even without lease buy out. AWD would be very nice, but I would want to ensure I can get the price below $40K which may limit me to RWD.

NOTE: I recently found some of the other thread on this related topic, but I am hoping I can get a short and sweet summary on what I should expect.

Shoot for 8-10% off of MSRP
Then take rebates. Not sure what finance rebates are out there. $2500?

So you should be able to hit 38-39k if you finance.

I do recommend doing more research about the lease buyout. You can buy out lease at anytime and save thousands more. You will just want to look at your tax implications in CA and make sure you have an idea of what financing you can get approved for if you do not buy outright.

yes, review the lease buyout thread, regarding your state taxes. I don’t think CA has anything different.
for a 2020 shouldn’t have a problem getting 10% off, more if possible.
Definitely wanna review the lease agreement on sections 9, 22D, and 23B as on the 1st post of the lease buyout thread.
don’t pay for addendum addon, mark ups, BS fees.
you shouldn’t have a problem, Take your time, don’t get hurried by the salesman.
Go get that deal!!!!

Hey there, I was fortunate enough to complete my lease of a 2021 GT1 RWD in Panthera Metal with a red interior this past weekend, and I intend to buy it out as soon as my lease is registered online in the next couple of weeks. I was able to get multiple dealerships to agree to a $42,000 dealer selling price (which is about 9.6% off MSRP) before applying the current $5,700 lease rebate. They tried to tack on over $1,000 in dealer add-ons but I refused to pay for them, eventually got them down to just $150 for nitrogen (which I know is useless), but I was okay with it as they gave me $200 more than my other offers for my trade in. The whole process took a lot of work, emailing back and forth with more than 10 different dealerships, but was well worth the effort at the end of the day.

If it helps, I went to Van Nuys Kia, they have several GT1s that I presume they are desperate to get rid of, but from my previous research, '21 red GT1s are in short supply here in SoCal, and '20 GT1s are basically extinct at this point (unless you've found one, in which case congrats). If I recall correctly, the red exterior is around an additional $500 so you should take that and the relatively limited supply into consideration when negotiating.

I will warn you that most dealerships and salesmen I dealt with have no clue how large the lease rebates are. The salesman I dealt with at Van Nuys initially said there was no way the rebate was that large, proceeded to show me smaller rebates which were for disaster relief, military personnel, etc., and then was visibly upset after finance confirmed the rebate because he had apparently paid not much less for his own GT-Line. I'm sure you're already doing this but make sure you have all your research written down and competing offers in writing available before visiting a dealership as most dealerships will be incredulous at what you'll be asking for.

As a reference point, I will be paying around $36,300 for my GT1 before fees, taxes, registration, etc. when I buy it out. You will be getting a much better deal doing the lease buyout because of the lease cash incentives Kia is running, but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to buy one outright for just under $40,000 (although I doubt it will be much less than that).

What are some verbiage you are using in your emails to get dealerships to be more aggressive with dealer selling price? I'm not having much luck getting my dealers up north to get any where near 9.6% off MSRP. For me, I am targeting G-Line RWD.

Related, I'm not sure if low inventory on G-Line at bay area dealers may be a factor. So Cal dealers seems to have more Stinger inventory on hand. Lucky you!

I'm not sure if it had much of an impact in my case but I made it very clear to every dealership that I was willing to come in and make a deal immediately if they were able to offer me a satisfactory deal, but that I also had a lot of other options (including both new and used options and competing cars like the G70, S5, etc.) and was willing to wait for the right deal.

It's frustrating but most dealers are (understandably) reluctant to give you competitive offers over email, because they're scared you'll take their offer and go elsewhere and have someone beat it. Low inventory might be a factor but I think reassuring them that you're ready and willing to make a deal ASAP will make them more willing to cooperate on their end. I also called a few of them to build rapport which helped push them along to give me more reasonable offers. Good luck with your search!

I typically dealt with the internet salespeople at each dealership, but as my discussions with them dragged on and they knew that I was serious, I had multiple sales managers/general managers reach out to me. They have the ability to approve a better deal but they may only want to do so in person (e.g. they will tell you to come in and they will beat any offer you have in writing). If you can get them on the phone it might be helpful and move along the process quicker.

I am in the situation actually. Going up to a dealer tomorrow and hope I can get a deal done to where it is possibly under 40 including taxes. We will see but I actually am fine with a RWD. So I will update this thread with my findings.
