Hey guys,

I have a 2019 Stinger and have been having issues with the radio ever since I picked up the car in April. The radio volume goes down by itself intermittently. It only happens on the radio, not satellite radio. It happens more frequently for some stations than others. It's become really irritating. My favorite radio station seems to be the most affected. I thought it would fix itself as the speakers got broken into, but it's just the same as when I picked up the car. I've tried keeping the phone disconnected, turning off the speed dependent volume control. I even turned off the setting where the volume lowers when the gps is speaking. Nothing has worked so far. Has anyone else had this issue? A quick search of the stinger forums hasn't brought up any similar experiences.

I've been on here over a year. This is the first incident of volume changing by itself that I have read about. There was the volume going to the rear issue, or not staying where you set it in a few other cases. But having the volume drop out altogether is a new one.

I have the same volume issue on my '18 GT2. Took it to my local Kia service 2 times who says they called Kia Corp and searched the database but mine is the only report of the issue. Taking it back to the dealer where I bought it tomorrow for this issue, pulsating brakes, and the key cover falling off on the driver's door handle.

90% of the time it is when listening to FM well within the range of the station -- not an HD station either so it is not switching between HD & analog. Has happened a little with XM stations and in open areas where the signal is not blocked.

Wow! What are the chances that Kia's only reported radio volume drop case, and the only one I've seen on here, would show up on the same thread within a day of each other?

(Oh, and I just noticed that this was @Airfalco's introductory post. Welcome!:D)

Thank you for the welcome :) Ryan, I find the issue is more likely to happen when passing power lines. Maybe reception related? Not sure if that helps you. It's kind of irritating because the car has developed a couple of rattles, So I use the radio to drown them out :P Heading to the dealer this Friday, so I'll update this post, although I might get them to focus on the rattles first.

Make sure, first, that your "rattles" are not caused by over inflated tires. 50+ psi is typical when taking delivery from the dealership.

Namaz, actually very much to do with the quantum feature. When it's off I haven't noticed the radio issue actually. It's too bad, because I rather like the on stage mode. Good point Merlin, last time I checked the psi for each tire was in the 30s. The seal on the drivers door and something in the passengers headliner is bumping around.

Seeley Kia in Battle Creek could not replicate the issue with the radio, so didn't do anything... of course it did it on my way home on the Interstate. It did it in the dive to the shop too. I was able to demonstrate the problem to the service manager at Kia of Lansing a month ago, but since Kia has nothing in their records about such an issue, he didn't do anything either. Neither service department had ever heard of the iPhone fader issue either when I mention it as the other radio issue I knew of.

I run the radio in Quantum mode all the time. It is not all that good without it. I'll try it off and see if there is a difference. i think I'd rather put up with the volume issue than listen in "regular" mode though.

Seeley is ordering a new brake rotor (only 1) under warranty to fix the brake vibration. I'm thinking they should at least refinish the other one so the break in will be the same on both but we will see when I take it back in.

They also have ordered a replacement key cap for the driver door handle and are going to get it painted if it isn't from the factory. Also warranty.

In case someone google searches the forum. The rattling in the passenger headliner is the air bag that's loose according to the dealer. They reproduced the exact sound by tapping the spot, so I'm convinced. They sprayed the door seals with lubricant, which helped quite a lot and is good enough for me. Radio issue is still there when quantum mode is turned on. Now the sunroof is making popping and creaking noises in the Summer. Haven't brought the car back in yet as I just don't have the time.

So what are they doing to fix it? Air bags should not be loose enough to rattle.

Could you describe or show a photo of this magic spot for the passenger air bag?

And you can read here (the forum) at length about the sunroof rattle...very well known problem affecting many.

Following this. Hate to to hijack the thread but I would love to know how/if my roof can be silenced without Kia tearing the car apart.

I've also noticed this as well last few days. I do have clarity and quantum turned on. I also find there is a huge difference between XM and Radio station volumes as well with XM being way louder at lower volumes then the radio. I will also try disabling the Quantum to see if it makes a difference.

This same thing is happening to my 21 Telluride. Any info?
