Good morning guys. I currently have 150k on my gt1 awd and although nothing is wrong in the least with it, Ive been thinking about picking up a used engine and transmission off of ebay or locally. I practically own the vehicle now and I would like to keep it forever so im just looking ahead before they become impossible to find. So my question is, does anyone with more knowledge then I about them know if all engines and trans are interchangeable? Like do i literally need a awd 3.3l and awd trans replacements or can i use the rwd engine/trans. also assuming I dont want the drive by wire since i have a gt1. Also would it be just as cost effective to just rebuild my engine now before it breaks? Because i will also need new turbos or rebuilt ones on top of it. Ive seen engines on ebay with like 10-30k miles for 4-5k and some even have the turbos. and trans are between 800-1200. Which is surprisingly cheap. I want to mod in the future and im worried about the longevity of 150k miles. sorry about the book lmao.

I think, with engine, any 3.3 will work. But transmission has to be 3.3 awd specific. You can't bolt transfer case to RWD transmission. And, most likely, gear ratios in 2.0 transmission are different from 3.3 one. Also gt2 transmission has electronic shifter, which probably wont work with gt1 and gt models. But I might be wrong on that.

The transmission cases have seperate part numbers so I would think they are different.

Check to make sure the AWD engine doesn't have any differences in the oil pan or accessories. It's pretty common for the front drive to cause some changes to the bottom half of the engine.

I know this is an older post, but just adding info here in case it helps anyone else searching on this. I had to replace my 3.3TT AWD engine, and the mechanic sourced a RWD engine, and change the necessary components on the bottom of the engine (sourced from my original engine being taken out). I'm not a mechanic so I'm not sure exactly how that is done, but the new engine is running fine. I have left over RWD parts now as a result that I guess I can sell. But it is apparently not too difficult to do if you can't get your hands on a 3.3TT AWD motor (or if you just find a RWD one for way less $$)

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I can tell you at the very least the oil pan drain bolt is in a different location on the AWD, so at least the oil pan is different. sounds like 919Stinger's mechanic swapped out his old one.
