Quarantine boredom… Started bourbon drinking for the first time

Looking for some good bourbon suggestions.

tried some knob creek smoked maple. I dig it.

have a bottle of bulleit unopened.

gimmie some suggestions.

preferable not rocket fuel.

something drinkable on ice... smooth.

I'm not a big bourbon drinker, but like a whiskey now and again. I've got a sweet tooth so I'm inclined to go for the Canadian and some American straight whiskeys. One of my favorites when I lived in Boston was Bully Boy; great over ice. I've never seen it in Georgia though.

Well I'm not going to be super helpful because I usually dont mix. Woodford Reserve is a great mainstream bourbon that i would recommend.

Weller special reserve is one of my favorites and it is under $50.00.

And then Willet. Comes in a awesome bottle and is around $50.00

The problem is bourbon is so hyped that it is hard to find and the prices are inflated.

For me drinking bourbon is just a couple pieces of ice. To cool slightly and add a little water.

More of a wine house but we cook with Jim Beam Black for bread pudding and BBQ. On the infrequent occasion of drinking it the favorite recipe has been:
1) 2oz maple syrup1, .5oz lemon juice2, oz bourbon

Could be worth a try when the current stash runs out. Feels a bit disingenuous hiding grocery store hooch in fancy clothes but the wife has good taste in gifts.

My personal favorites are Angels Envy and Jefferson's Reserve over a single ball. I have a bottle of Ocean Aged I am about to crack open.

1792! All of them! That Bulleit is one of my favorites!! Bulleit Rye is great also!! I’ve tried them all!! Bourbon fan here lol

Oh and COLONEL E.H. Taylor is fantastic too!! There’s lots of good ones!! Ben Milan is out of Texas and fantastic...it’s Greene and Milan now I think!
