Q50 Red Sport to Stinger GT2

Congrats on the Stinger. It does have some quirks but it really is a fantastic vehicle.

I have owned 7 INFINITI vehicles in the last 15 years. My last one was a fully loaded 2016 Q50 Silver Sport(300 HP) that I turned in last year.

When I turned in the Q50 the finance manager said “Can I interest you in a new INFINITI?”. I politely declined and told him I already bought a Stinger. He said “I figured that would be your answer”. He said they just can’t sell new cars like they did before.

He said their used car sales were the only thing keeping the dealership going.

The 2021 INFINITI Q50s came out recently. They are basically unchanged from the 2016 car I had. Well at least they have Apple CarPlay now but they don’t have heads up displays, flat bottom steering wheel, cooled seats, wireless charging, or many other features we take for granted in other cars.

INFINITI sales are down about 40% on the year. While other car companies are recovering now INFINITI hasn’t seemed to recover at all.

It is a shame but it is reality. Kia and Genesis have taken over the Japanese luxury sedan market from INFINITI and even Lexus.

I really enjoyed my Q50 while I had it but I enjoy my Stinger SO MUCH MORE.

I always like a nice set of wheels on a car. That was my biggest hesitation with the Stinger. The stock wheels just weren’t my style.

I know some people won’t like the wheels I like but here all the last 3 sets of wheels I had on my cars. I think the G70 wheels I have on my Stinger now look the best.

Those G70 wheels look pretty good on the stinger. I wonder how the black wheels off of a G70 Sport would look on a white stinger????

grats on the upgrade OP. There is a white g37x coupe sitting in my driveway right now lol. Stinger has it beat in the luxury department for sure. As for the steering, it all can be adjusted. After I replaced my rack the steering was so light that I could turn it fully with one finger. Didn't like that so had it reprogramed.
Very nice, the best of both worlds!

Agree about the wheels; that's a nice upgrade (the new wheels for the refresh are an improvement as well).

Aside from a dated interior and tech, the bigger issue with the Q50 is the transmission which doesn't make proper use of the power, esp. in the RS.

The transmission in the Stinger, while not ZF9 quick, isn't as slow as in the Infiniti (Lexus has the same issue with its AT).

Yeah, I agree that the transmission in the Q50 wasn’t the best. I always wondered how quick it would be with a dual clutch and launch control. It would be like a baby GTR I suppose.
