Pure turbo Hybrid kit

Hey guys just wondering before I pull the trigger on pure turbos upgraded turbos just wanted to see if it's worth it and has anyone else ordered a pair?. Might go with tork or pressure tech for tuning if lap3 takes too long releasing their tunes
 
I would do as much research before pulling the trigger. As it sits the stock turbos already max out the OEM fuel system, this has been the main challenge to reliably extract power out of the pure turbos and so far I have not seen consistent results that inspire confidence to buy a set.

I'd hold off a few months until Tork develops a tune for these. The one hybrid in the US had Presser tech ecu tune and JB4 and performed about the same as stock turbo cars.
Pretty sure the RWD tork car with stock turbos will beat the hybrid car before even adding WMI. Should find out shortly.

Turbos seemed decent, good for at least 50-60whp over factory turbos. Not the 100whp+ some are looking for when doing hybrids. Main issues are tuning isn't really there yet for them. Although now that we have EWG control on the JB4 and flash maps have improved a bit since then that should make things a lot easier.

Secondary issue was transmission wasn't able to hold the extra power as well as hoped so that will need to be reconciled.
 
Would slip on the 4-5 shift to start and eventually started slipping in all gears. They were going to pull it and build it up and that was the last I heard of the project.

Ugh. Is the trans a weak link? I thought someone pulled this trans apart and found it was rated to 1000 NM? I've seen the Torque Converter being a weak link, but not the trans overall.

"Transfer box" on the AWD is 1,000NM. No published specs on the actual transmission.

It's possible it's the converter lock up plate slipping in higher gears and load, not a lot of info at this point on it out there.
 
I hate that KIA is so secretive about it. I know why, but for example the ZF trans ratings can easily be found.

Our transmission is in house (or almost) so they don't have any reason to publish these numbers.

I'd think they WANT to attract the modding community. Sales are plummeting, what's wrong with giving younger people an exciting platform to mod? Ford/Chevy/Dodge have fully embraced this. I just don't see the downside. Sure the warranty is long, but Kia to begin with is already struggling badly to attract 20 something's. I guess technically ALL car brands are mostly older buyers, and KIA is middle of the pack with average aged buyer being 39.... but I just think Dodge for example is taking off because they are EMBRACING the performance market. Dodge didn't even give up reliability either. They just won JD Power's most reliable brand for 2020 CARRIED largely by their Chargers+Challengers.

If KIA wants to get serious about performance based products they can't half ass it.
 
Honestly, I am excited to hear that tork is working on a tune for them, since force fed went MIA.

However, I will be forced to wait for a tuning shop that plays a little more friendly with bms, as 91 pump is the best fuel I can get here, and will be dependent on wmi to utilize the hybrids, with valet mode for normal driving/traveling

Im hoping more competition in this space (and consumer demand) can really make this a viable and more accessible mod for the community to run with (and hopefully embrace!).

Sadly, a hard fact here is, there is just not enough stingers out in wild for most shops to justify the devolpment costs for this kind of project. Honestly, Ill be anxiously watching this space, in the hope somebody can really show what these bad boys can do with a proper tune!

There will be at least 2 Tork stage 2 Wmi tunes running around Cali on shit 91 as of next week.
Tuning for the hybrids won't be too hard but he will need to also do tcu tune to raise the rpms to take full advantage.

Jb4 has map 6 so any thing can play nice. I usually just log and spray Wmi bit occasionally spoof iat up or down or bump boost just a little like .5 or 1 psi when cold.
 
I do want to get a backend flash, just waiting for the hybrids to be figured out first. I have had my eye on them for quite awhile, just waiting to pull the trigger for tuning to catch up
 
Hey guys just curious has anyone picked up a high pressure fuel pump? Khartunerz has one by spool performance. I know the stock fuel pump become an issue at a point the higher HP you go. Just curious this is the first time I have seen these on sale.E1547756-72A6-4627-9E71-91324BE18E03.webp
