Hey Stablemates!!
I’m a regular working stiff stationed in the States on the left coast. I consider myself a car guy with deep Chevrolet roots.
I was intro’d to the Stinger one day watching the Velosity Channel and Motor Trend was having some sort of car of the year countdown. When I switched on the show they were on the fourth rated car, naturally, I became curious as to which car would be rated number one (Jeopardy sound bite) when they get to number one and said the KIA Stinger, my reaction was no different than everyone else’s “AH KIA?”. I immediately googled it and from that point the love affair began to blossom. For the next three weeks the KIA STINGER was stamped on my brain! I was actually losing sleep thinking about this car. Until one day on my lunch break, I decided to go and “just look at one”.......
That decision ended with a Ceramic Silver - Maroon interior Stinger GT2 in my driveway. I’ve owned some respectable rides, still do, but this one, is special. When I was looking to buy my first financed car I considered a 1987 Buick Grand National, two years old at the time, that I squashed in lieu of a 1989 Chevrolet Beretta GTU...(enough with the laughter) The KIA Stinger GT is a reincarnation of the
1987 Buick Grand National in my eyes and I was determined not to make the same mistake.
I love this car

Welcome to the forum and the Stinger HIVE! Congrats on your GT2 and sure you will love it more and more everyday.

I too have deep Chevy roots and used to help tune my fathers Camaros every weekend. I personally became a Pontiac guy when I got my ‘77 Trans-Am at 16 and have considered myself a “motorhead” ever since.

I love your description of the “love affair” and felt similar when I discovered the Stinger for the first time. I too grew to be obsessed and started following every article/review on the car. I thought the same and believed this was(and is!) going to be the next GNX, Supra or NSX! I just knew I had to have one and didn’t want to miss out of this special piece of machinery.;)

I then had a dilemma as my lease was set to expire in December before my beloved Stinger was going to be available. I actually extended my lease 6m just to make sure I could get the exact Stinger I wanted. Luckily 3m later I finally found my Micro Blue GT2 and haven’t looked back, except at the Mustangs in my rear view mirror! Lol.:D

Again, congrats, enjoy and happy motoring!

Pontiac? Never heard of them ..... (check my signature lines)

Congrats on the ride! I think the Stinger will be on a lot of people's mind once they drive it. I still have a while to go before I can get into one, enjoy your ride!

Welcome and congrats on joining our ever expanding family and forum. I totally understand picking the gtu or the grand national. Well, not really, but I was this close to trading in one of my Camaros on a z24 cavalier. This close. But got into an argument with salesman, so it didn't happen.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your Stinger GT! But don't let anyone laugh at that Beretta GTU. That was actually a pretty cool car in it's time. I had a plain old 88 Beretta "GT" - and it was a good car. I'd always liked them. So not everyone looks down on them. :) Anyway, I'm glad you found us! And I look forward to hearing a few Stinger stories from you as time rolls on...
