I'm glad I never signed up with kia connect, not even during the free trial. I vaguely recall the dealer offering to help set it up. I politely declined. When driving, the handsfree option just doesn't work for me. From the previous car that had it, I found it too distracting. So now, phone stays in airplane mode unless I need to make a call. If someone needs to reach me, leave a message. If emergency, call 911.
The whole security aspect of it does beg the question if someone remotely can compromise any part of the drivetrain. Probably not brakes as those are mostly still mechanical, but there is the brake assist during an emergency where the car will apply them harder if it senses a panic stop. Throttle is by wire, and steering has some element of electric assist.
Note the interiors of some of these newer cars like tesla or hyundai. Dash looks like something out of a video game. Driving a car is not a video game!!
