When comparing prices, keep in mind the huge cost of options in the German cars vs those packaged by KIA and Hyundai.

Option out a M-B, Porsche, BMW or Audi and the price goes up huge. KIA/Hyundai on the other hand group options so that you can load up for much less.

(Porsche emblems on center of wheels cost $500, as does optional seat belt in interior color instead of black, or center console in same color as exterior)

When you look at comparative prices, the German car may be a few thou more. When you add everything you want to each base price the difference may be huge.

As for dlr markup, the company may frown but cannot control what price a dlr sells for. Some are excellent, I bought some BMW M's for list when other dlrs were getting thousands for "Additional Dealer Markup"

We got our loaded Genesis V8 for $40k and expect to get our GT w/ everything but AWD for not much more than that; it just might not be the first one in town.

Good post, totally agree.

This Kia definitely is creating a compelling choice for those not too concerned about badges. Premium options are well packaged by hkm, as opposed to the gouging from the high mark brands, it's almost robbery!

Not so sure about full spec for $40k.....I truly believe the popularity of this vehicle will allow it's price to remain at the recommended price for a long while after initial release. But seriously I do wish you best of luck on that front. USA is such a huge market, you might be right yet.

To further bolster the Kia brand against all these more established premium brands the quality must be high too. If it is as good as they say then resale and used market will maintain decent values too, which will mean new discounting will be limited. Both of these factors will speak volumes for the brand going forward.

And also if this Kia drive as good as the Germans that's complete the package

I'm sure the Stinger will be 90-95% of what the Germans have to offer - but it's not going to be the same car. It's not going to be 100%. We're not paying MUCH less for an identical car with a different badge. Obviously, everybody is having a canary and a half because the Stinger is 100lbs more than a Mercedes-Benz or BMW. If you want the car that's a hundred pounds lighter, get ready to spend $20,000.00 more. Best of luck with it...
