Hey guys quick question, I live in hawaii where all the stingers are being marked 4k over sticker and the dealers here seem unwilling to negotiate.. stuck on an island so i cant really do much. Ive been watching the used market for quite a while. I noticed all the CPOS are generally well over market, right now a '18 GT1 @ 30k miles is being offered for 36k will not go lower.

I have a private party offer for a ceramic silver GT1 2019 @ 9k miles for 35k. Which seems just FAIR considering where I live, what do you guys think? It also comes with a 3rd party 10yr/100k warranty extension and a 75k premium maintence plan.

What do you guys think of this deal?

Thank u

Have you looked up Kia's factory warranty and how it transfers from owner to owner?

The car seems really overpriced, but then again I don't live on an island with limited supply of vehicles to cross shop and compare.

Is the third party warranty extension adding 10yr/100k bumper to bumper or just powertrain? Who is it through?

What is the 75k premium maintenance plan? They cover all service for 75k months during 10 years?

I picked up my 2020 Kia Stinger GT (RWD and base model) for $36k out the door final price in Florida. It did not come with any free maintenance plans or warranty extensions; just the factory warranty and first oil change free at the dealership I purchased the vehicle from.

I've only been to Hawaii for about a week (9 days if you include travel days) and have taken small little planes from island to island. I am not sure how expensive it would be for you to purchase a Stinger on the mainland and then ship it over. Perhaps calculate the cost difference and see if it is worth it?

I also know Hawaii taxes pretty heavily...

If this 2019 GT1 is the lowest price you can find for a 3.3TT model you want and it has these "extended" warranties and "premium" maintenance plans then go for it. You should provide more info though.

Good luck!!

$35K GT1 private sale is an excellent price in the current market. Someone else was in a similar situation in terms of cost on a 2018 GT1, and they weren’t on the island and noticed in the current used car market a low mileage GT1 was going for a minimum of $35K.

You may even get the seller to give you a break on the taxes if they don’t write $35K over all the paperwork you need to take to the DMV for registration.

Ask about the underwriter of the extended warranty. Just about all of them transfer, but it’s a matter of whether it’s a simple documentation transfer or if there’s a transfer fee, which in some cases is as little as $30-50.

If I were the seller and the maintenance plan and extended warranty were big-ticket items, I’d cancel them for a prorated refund and still sell the car for $35K. At the asking price and for the right buyer, it should sell quickly just due to savings from dealer fees.

In terms of trim, there are so many pros to a GT1 over the standard GT. First thing, before discounts, you’re looking for a car that’s barely two years old with an MSRP of $46K and its priced at $35K. If you wanted a GT, you could find one for $30K, so the GT1 is worth it in that regard. Next up are the features that a GT1 provides; whether they’re your cup of tea or not is for you to decide, but if you want some luxury to go along with your sport, it’s a no brainer.

We'll see what happens thanks for the input.

As far as the plans go it does they are transferable for around 50$ each which he will do. Reciepts show he paid 2k for the maintence and 2k for the warranty.

warranty says it cover everything possible up to 100k miles/10 yr
maintence plan says covers up to 75k miles:
Premium Maintenance Protect covers routine inspections, preventive care and replacement of normal “wear and tear” items that require periodic attention, including:

  • Engine oil and filter changes
  • Multi-point inspections
  • Tire rotations
  • Brake pads and linings
  • Shock absorbers/struts
  • Spark plugs
  • Clutch discs
  • Engine belts
  • Engine coolant hoses, clamps and o-ring seals
  • Wiper blades
and a ton of other stuff
Again thank you for the help, we'll see if this deal comes through.

I mean... if there is no deductible on that warranty... and it stacks with the existing factory warranty... not too bad imo

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Cough cough i paid 55k for a 2018 gt1

Thats a steal where i live ;)

Im still happy with it really :) first new car (2018) i was interested in

To put the warranty in perspective, it’s a 40K mile exclusionary protection plan.

The used car drops the power train to 5yr/60K.

Paying $2K a protection plan that doesn’t take effect until 60K was not the wisest use of funds. At most, it should’ve been $1000 since the new car power train warranty is 10yr/100K, so it would only apply for non-drivetrain repairs.

Deductible or no deductible, it’s irrelevant. Deductibles are paid per valid claim, not per item. Even at a $100 deductible, if ten things are replaced on that visit, it’s still $100.

I hope it works out for you.

That was a great price for that model. I picked up my Certified AWD GTS for a hair under $35k and 4500 miles. The GT1 for 2019 RWD with certification here go for about that price you paid - on the Island it's a fantastic deal IMO

Sounds like them Aloha Kia boys lol. I used to work for the company. I'm still surprised they're in business having the $4,000 markup OVER msrp.
My father lives on Maui and I ended up getting his GT1 to $500 over invoice and still getting the incentives. They're a pain but, at $500 over invoice its still cheaper than shipping him one from the west coast.

That said, if they won't deal hit me up at 970-889-9835. I have a great connection in Portland who can ship one to you. You'll probably be just a hair under invoice and shipping will probably be around $800-$1,000.

Which island are you on? I'm a Maui boy who moved to cold country lol.

I did end up getting the private party one for 35k so I’m happy to be done with it, I appreciate it though! I’m on oahu, I am not looking forward to dealing with the kia dealership on Nimitz for service.. wonder if the leeward one has nicer people.
