PPF Takes one for the Team

I was cleaning section of my car today and noticed a small section of torn up "plastic" on the hood. Looks like a rock chip messed up the XPEL film, but the film did its job and protect the paint. Really glad I spent the money on a PPF!

So does the Xpel warranty cover the film? i feel like this is beyond the films self healing abilities.

I bet it will look better in a while. A gas station attendant in OR pulled up on my windshield wiper and scraped the rear edge of my hood's PPF. It looked like hell for about a week then settled down. You can still see the aggrieved spot but it's about half as scraped as it was. And over my FL wheel well is a tiny nick in the film. I thought that I might try a hair dryer on it; but I'm chicken. It, too, isn't as visible as at first. But damage isn't going to entirely vanish.

XPEL's warranty does not cover road debris damage:

"XPEL warrants XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS™ / STEALTH™ Paint Protection Film to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for ten (10) years from the date of purchase. Covered defects include: yellowing, staining, cracking, blistering and delaminating. This warranty does not extend coverage to damage caused by normal wear and tear, road debris impact, accidents, collisions or intentional damage of any kind."

The heat from the engine should help it heal; that said, I suspect you are right.
