Hi everyone,
I'm looking at potentially buying or leasing a Stinger for my wife. And I say my wife, but it'll be mostly me driving as we carpool to work and I end up driving everywhere we go together. I suggested the Stinger to her and surprisingly she was onboard. The Stinger seems like a fun car that would keep me interested, while being a handsome, well-behaved and roomy car for her when she does drive. It just makes sense as it ticks all the boxes for us. I'm not in a rush to make a purchase as we still have about 7 months left on her current lease.

I'm a car enthusiast and have toys of my own and have been a part of other car forums in the past so I already have plans for this car if we do commit to it. Probably will start with wheels...

Any thoughts, advice, suggestions or comments is appreciated. And I hope to get to know some of you, get some ideas for everyone and just be a part of this community.

Howdy and welcome (even though you've been a silent background type for months, I see :)). I've had my Stinger for over two years, and it is every bit as fun and smile-inducing as the day I drove away from the dealership. And yes, it does check all the boxes. I have this car because all those checked boxes convinced me to buy my first-ever brand new car (I wasn't even shopping for one). I understand about going slow. It took an entire winter of reading about the Stinger to convince me to finally test drive. That was a fatal move. :p Three days later I got mine.

As you have time, drive a few and see what you think.

I don't think there is anything else that comes close in terms of value - considering performance, handling, and features. There are several threads where people discuss what other vehicles they were considering. For me it was ~$100,000 AMG or M-class, and I have no regrets. Not saying it's *as good*, but for half the price, it's 90% there.

edit - actually, I would say it's as good, but I don't want to start a flame war in your thread. I have direct experience as my GF bought a 'merc that I got to live with for a while before I bought my Stinger. Hers was a $80,000 model (CLS 400)

I have owned my share of vehicles, and I can say that the Stinger is the best car-for-the-money I ever owned.

The car is heavy, but surprisingly dynamic. The car is cheap (relatively) in price, but I cannot think of another car with this performance and price. And the car is a bonafide head-turner; I don't think I ever walked away from her without looking back at her.

Of course, the car is not perfect, but you can't get a better car for the price.

PROS:
- Strong engine, good looks, dynamic handling (for the weight), hatchback versatility

CONS
- Brand name ( like that should matter, but it does), fake vents, fake center-lock wheels

For me, the competition of this car is the BMW M340i, Audi S4, Mercedes C43 AMG - All of these cars are at least $10k more than the Stinger, especially when specced the same

Welcome to the hive! Shop around... lots of dealers (and deals) out there and discounts that just might make sense to end your lease early. I say that only as a friend of mine signed a new lease last Jan knowing her lease was up in May (for delivery in May) and the dealer keep calling and throwing discount after discount after discount to take delivery earlier. Also not all dealers and service departments are equal, so take time to find one you like and want to do biz with.

I will echo that last comment!

I bought my Stinger from Kia of Muncie (IN) - I live 500 miles away in Atlanta. Flew up, they picked me up at the airport, and drove it home overnight (which meant it was "broken in" by the time I got here. If the same team is there when I buy another Kia, I'll be reaching out to them first!

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. You've come to the right place to research the Stinger! It sounds like you're very familiar with forums. I'm glad you found us! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome and all the tips and advice.

I do love the hatchback (fastback). My wife hates traditional "hatches" but is thankfully ok with the Stinger. One of my previous car was the RSX and absolutely loved the hatch, they really maximize space so well.

I did also consider ending the lease on her BMX X1 early, but haven't looked too much into it thinking BMW's going to want way too much to end the lease early. But i'll look into it. With everything going on, it might be a good time to buy/lease a Kia. BTW, we're looking for a GT2, she wants all the bells and whistles and since we live in WI, I want AWD for the snow.

AWD isn't just for snow, makes it a much more enjoyable car all around, better performance and handling.

Shhh, wife doesn't have to know this. lol

But thats true. A little something for her, keeps her feeling better about driving in the snow and keeps me happy with the performance.
