By now we've read through the brake vibration FAQ and the 'warped rotor' threads for the stock GT+ Brembos. I'm curious as to how many people eventually saw an issue or didn't see any issue.

Caveat, this has nothing to do with brake performance, fading, bite, etc. We all know pads can be upgraded from standard OEM to something more performance oriented and there's always a tradeoff. But this is strictly if you've experienced actual issues with vibration from the OEM pads leaving rotor deposits.

Also please only respond if you're in North America. We know our Europe/Australia friends have different pads altogether so please don't vote in order to not skew the results. Sorry to not be inclusive :)

Can anyone confirm vibrations occur mainly when braking from from speeds over 40mph after brakes have warmed up? Very seldom vibrations occur when cold.

BTW I'm sure the Australian stinger also experience the vibration and low dust pads used.

Nope. Changed my pads at 100 miles on the odo haha.

At 14k miles . No vibration yet..

Here's another question while votes are still rolling in:

Does driving style impact results here? For example, as soon as I see red I'm immediately off the gas and will coast / engine brake. Additionally I will slow down a bit to time traffic moving again so I can avoid ever coming to a full stop. This is all for gas mileage and it works. I will get up 28mpg in suburban areas because of this. This also saves my brakes (the more you're on the brakes, the more you're wasting efficiency). Of course when I'm on back roads having fun, they get more use.

Now my wife is either gas or brake. No in between...

So my point is, will regularly heating up brakes impact results of pad deposits?

No. But holding the pads against the rotors after being heated up will stick melted pad deposits on the rotors. If you don't come to a complete stop after the brakes are heated up, pad deposits will never form. (If you think that your brakes are really hot and you know that you are going to stop, then just before you stop, say at c. 5 MPH, put the trans in "N" and use the emergency/parking brake instead: it does not engage the calipers.)

Great info and makes sense.

I have a 2019 GTRWD and I experienced rotor warp the first time under 10k miles. Took it to thr dealer and they turned them for me with no charge. Recently with 26k miles on my car I had serious rotor warpage so much that I had to have a total brake job! The dealership was wonderful and got it all done u der warranty. Needless to say though now I am really paranoid about them failing within the next 20k miles.....

My big question on all of this is how have things gone for those who have had this issue when taking the car to the dealer? I've heard some pleasant stories where they fix it at no charge. I've heard nightmare stories as well.

The response seems to be all over the place... So clearly no standardization and varies by dealer.

Howdy and welcome. Find and read through the several/many brakes threads. The warranty in the US is for 12 months/12K miles: for original owners, Kia has typically extended the warranty as a "good will gesture". But not for all. The most important difference is the interpersonal dynamic. If relations stay positive, then Kia is more likely to try and make you satisfied.

I drive mine hard and if no one is behind me. I stop hard for lights so my breaks get good and hot. I just avoid holding the brakes when I am waiting for the green (parking brake or Park until the cross light is yellow), and so far I have 4,000 miles and no pulsation or shuddering. I do the rebedding every 1000 miles or so because I do often drive in traffic where creeping in traffic jams is unavoidable, and that creates more deposits than spirited driving.

The question remains, why has Kia not properly addressed this matter that has now been ongoing for years?

My pads failed but I can't really blame the pads since they died on the track while being tortured.

I'm sure there's a deal with Kia that only these generic Brembo pads come with the Brembo calipers.

A better set of pads is a small price to pay and a world of improvement.

I highly recommend throwing the Brembo pads in the trash and getting something better like DBA XP.
