My 2020 Stinger GT1 is no longer displaying the pictogram of changes in response to the driving mode selector switch------------ I have reset the head unit and no difference, does anyone have a clue?

If the reset button push did nothing, and this were my phenomenon, I'd try disconnecting the battery for half an hour or more.

Thank you for your suggestion it's certainly easy enough to try. This change just occurred suddenly, and there doesn't seem to be any setting for it.

There isn't a "setting", the color changing car icon for the drive mode selections is part of the software. I've never read before of the "car" disappearing. It's just a glitch, hopefully not the first sign of something serious.

Won't disconnecting the battery erase all the cars settings? IE power windows, sunroof, nav settings, radio settings?

Disconnecting the battery only restores defaults. You may have to reset some preferences. I have read of pulling the battery connection blitzing preselected radio stations and stuff like that.

There is a setting in the cars Ovo system that restores defaults think that's worth a try too?

there is a setting to have it show on the screen or not when changing drive modes.

In my 2020 GT2, from the main screen go to "All menus" > "Settings" > "Vehicle" > "Drive mode" > "Drive mode change alert". The settings for me are "Detailed alert - A change of the drive mode is shown by an image of the vehicle and a detailed description", or "Simple alert - A change of the drive mode is indicated by a short message on top of the screen." and "Off - A change of the drive mode is not indicated."

Thank you very much. And my car that switch was inadvertently turned off. Have no idea how that happened. I don't shuffle through that menu very often. However, now the pictogram is entirely different from what I had before. I have attached a picture. As you can see, it's a picture of the car with the label of what mode it's in. Not the exploded diagram that I had before. Don't know how to get back to the other one. There is no other switch or control and the other positions of the switch don't accomplish this.

Ha hah. This just shows how ignorance works. Even my 2018 GT1 has the option to simplify or turn OFF the selected drive mode display. Nearly seven and a half years in, and I only discovered this just now after reading @AdamNZ 's post above. I have selected the simple version now and may turn it off altogether, since the LCD screen between the gauges is enough information on which drive mode you are in, or changing to. I don't like redundancy much.

By the way, the car icon used to be very Stinger-like, but subsequent navigation screen updates turned it into this ugly generic thing.

My 2018 is exactly a Stinger, that generic car graphic is just weird.

How many updates have you done? I've done three the most recent one being last year. I didn't notice when the Stinger drive mode icon changed to this thing.

As soon as I saw the post I thought "there is a setting for that". So you found it.

There are many settings and many are not configured out of the factory so you can spend years driving around with settings "un set"

It is worth spending an hour going through them all.

Simple things like activating front camera automatically in confined spaces. I found a family member always pushing the camera button until I pointed out the tick box.

Displaying "seat changes" is another and of course the drive settings.

Doing factory resets is not a good idea.

I actually haven't updated my UVO, but I suppose when my head unit was factory replaced 2 yrs ago it was updated. All of a sudden my car had sounds of nature as a media mode choice. My Android Auto still works only when it is in the mood despite my having a Pixel phone and the USB Port still refuses to recognize music on it. These have been problems since day 1. The head unit doesn't update itself over the air, so I wonder where that generic pictogram came from.

I've never used UVO. The degraded car icon is the result of KIA navigation/media updates. I think mine lost the Stinger icon the first time I upgraded in late 2018. It might have been a year or two later though. Memory does not serve well here.

I'm sure like many others once the car image changed to what it is now, I changed my setting to simple view.
