Passenger seat stuck forward, won't move back

Hi guys,

My passenger was being moved all the way forward to clean (is automatic), and as it was I heard light crunching (but very faint). I tried to move the seat back once done and noticed it won't go back past a certain point (4-5cm from complete extension). I have been battling the last few days with a rubber mallet, lubricating the rail, placing a long thing object down the rail to push something out but nothing. It almost feels like the seat tried to go back the first time, realised something is in the way and won't attempt to go back anymore to prevent damage.

I can't access the front bolts to remove the seat as it's too far forward. Does anyone have any ideas? Is there anyway I can force the seat or put it manually back?

If you can apply power to terminals 1 and 4 of connector B. Motor should move (unless very broken)

Thanks D.J., but I think the motor is stuck trying to move back over the object, so it cuts out as not enough power in the motor to move the seat back. Been tackling it for hours but nothing - might have to spend the $$ and bring into Kia, but even they have no idea without getting access to the front bolts.

If it encounters too much resistance it will stop trying to move. You need to closely inspect for any object - even between the seat and the center console - that could be creating resistance. Good luck!

I'm sure you've tried all the directions.. but have you raised the seat all the way to get a better view?/maybe go over the obstacle? maybe compare with passenger side visibly to make sure something didn't break/fall out of place

In a nutshell, yes, moved forward to clean, heard slight crunch (unsure of rail as it was faint), seat will stop 1/6th way back and won't expose bolts to get the seat out to inspect.

Rang the dealer, the foreman was unsure about the Stinger seats but does not seem to be a manual way to move the rail; may have to go in for potentially the smallest pain and take hours.

Yeah, if I try and force the seat up, I can hear the motor trying again but cuts out. Have taken all the side seat controls off to inspect and nothing under the seat.. it's in the rail

Yep, everything looks correct from pictures/videos I've seen of others taking the seat out. I'm thinking it is a pen lid/popcorn kernel a passenger dropped and is now stuck in the rail...

Either way, may turn out to be an expensive issue as speaking to the foreman he may have to disassemble the seat from the rail which is a hard task in the car.

Hopefully there is a "trick" that is found to at least get the seat out.

Hi Guys, thanks for all the comments trying to assist appreciate it. Finally got the car to Kia as went travelling over Christmas. Predicated only a day in the shop, dropped off at 7am and they called at 4pm saying Kia Australia has requested them to investigate/document and pull the whole seat apart as apparently this has been occurring on multiple occasions and there is no way to get the seat out without taking it all apart if the bolts aren't exposed... they had to keep the car for a few days. Overall, it seems the left rails teeth have sheared off which is completely unrelated to my partner dropping something in the right rail (turns out there was nothing there blocking it, it wasn't us thank god!).

Conclusion is, the left rail was replaced under warranty, there is no way to manually turn the motor you have to deconstruct the seat if the bolts aren't exposed. Apparently the seat rail can shear itself clean (??), even though that seat hardly moves forward/back and my partner only weighs 50kg (110lbs for my American Friends) so weight wasn't a factor in ruining it! Very strange but all fixed under warranty, didn't have to pay a dime.
