Any insight on when Kia will change the Stinger paint process? I wont invest until i'm sure my vin is post problem. Answer may be buried in the Chip forum.
Based on how things went with some of the 2018's, I think they already made an adjustment. Wouldn't make sense to keep spending money to fix cars once they are sold when they can make the change at the factory that will benefit the entire line.
All of the six MY19s on Jerry Seiner's lot a couple of weeks ago were perfect. Whereas in July of the 16 Stingers on the lot, half had some imperfections with paint. None of them showed outright paint failure. Two of the eight had actual damage to one spot. One had both headlight assemblies causing peeling paint. The rest had only the smallest flaking under the driver's side headlight. I think that Kia has solved the problem. But only watching these boards for announcements of MY19 paint failures will prove the point.
they clearly made a change from 2017 to 2018 that improved the paint adherence, whether or not the paint issue is "completely solved" in the 2019s isn't known yet.
Seeing as the yellow owners didn't receive their letters until late July 2018, I wouldn't bet on anything with a build date July 2018 or earlier to have any changes. Look for August 2018 or later would probably be best, IF they changed anything at all. (bumper fitment around headlights to boot)....

I don't agree, it would have taken Kia awhile to come up with a "game plan" and don't forget that this car was released in Korea before it was released here. If you go through the very lengthy paint thread it's clear there are far more people with paint issues who have car builds in 2017, you would expect to see a fairly uniform spread if nothing was changed in 2018.
