Has anyone else noticed that their Stinger has a tendency to wear out the inner rear pads really quickly? I did a brake service this weekend, about a year ago the dealer replaced my rear pads with new OEM ones becasue the inner rear pads were toast. Well fast forward 12 months and I'm doing my own brake service and noticed that the rear inner pads of the new ones they installed are wearing twice as fast as the outer pad. Curious of anyone else seems to have this issue. I realize it's normal for this to a degree but at the level of wear I just saw I think I'd need new rear oem pads in about another year and that seems excessive to me.

I'm running girodisc magic pads in the front and pem rear pads.

Stock rotors all around, oem pads in the rear, girodisc magic pads up front.

Fixed or floating caliper brakes? Which trim is your car?

Factory Brembo's. I'm curious if others are having this issue or if it's related somehow to me running the Girodisc pads up front.

Thanks for clarifying. Others will have to chime in on their experiences.

Usually with fixed caliper brakes (ie brembos), stuck piston(s) would be the cause of premature wear. That is, piston isn't retracting slightly after brake application. This may be due to rust or debris build up on the piston. When I used to replace pads on the motorcycle (similar fixed caliper design), I would extract the pistons slightly then use brake fluid to remove any debris build up before pushing the piston back in.

On a floating caliper design (gt-line), slides and pins should be cleaned of any rust and lubricated.

Thanks for your feedback. I just performed a full brake service all around and cleaned all the pistons and slides throughly and re-greased everything, it all looked normal minus the pad wear on the inner rear pads, they were definitely SUPER filthy so hopefully that will help matters.

Slides?

The Brembos do not have any slides to lubricate!

The 2 pins are not slides, they are pad retention pins that allow for the anti rattle spring to be mounted .

My pads, inner and outer, have worn evenly. No extra wear on inner vs outer.

Never heard or read about mismatched wear on the stinger Brembo brakes. (Inner vs outer)

Weird

I mistyped, I meant pins not slides. Are you sure yours have worn even? Have you taken them off after a good amount of kms and compared them to the outside pad? You'd have to pull both pads to even tell you wouldn't be able to poke your head in and see without pulling them and slapping them together to compare.

Yes..
At 60,000 kms, I replaced all my OEM pads with aftermarket.

In fact, I may still have the OEM pads in my gasrage - I'ma go check. If I do, I'll snap a pic

You got 60k out of your oem pads? Man I replaced my rear pads at 30,000kms and my rear inner pads were total trash at that point.

At 45K miles, my OEM brake pads had c. 8mm still. Tomorrow I'll get a new measurement at c. 49K miles.

I got 60, with lots left.

My fronts actually had MORE left than the rear.

These are my OEM's. Removed at 60k kms.

Shown in pairs, no idea which was left or right, but outers are the ones with the squealer tabs

There is a slight taper, where the leading edge seemed to wear more than the trailing edge. But inner and out pads are even - to my eye. I did not measure with a caliper.

I have 39,250ish miles on my car and my brakes are still good on all 4 corners. Not sure what's going on with yours

Thanks for the pics, your rears definitely wore more evenly than mine did. I'll have to pull my pads again in a few thousand kms to check them again.

Front pads have more material to start out with. Rears are like 2/3's (or less) of the fronts.

I sold the G at 38K miles, had lots of pad on front and rear still remaining. Could of easy gone to 70-80K miles. I brake gentle :)
