Last Friday, my check engine light came on. I ran a reader to find out that it's P2097 and 2099. Something related to the fuel running too rich through the exhaust. I took it to a mechanic today and through their software, they are saying that the catalytic converter is going bad. I only have 48,000 miles on it. Has anyone else experienced this? I do run a JB4 on Map 2 during the warmer months.

Thanks!

What's the status of your air filters?, when were they last changed?

I have not changed the air filter for the intake since installing it 4 years ago. Does this affect the catalytic converters?

P2097 Code: Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Rich Bank 1
P2099 Code: Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Rich Bank 2

Having (BOTH) these called at the same time - is usually an indicator that something external is causing the condition.
I suggest air filters first as an easy item to eliminate.

Further diagnostics needed.

Thank you for the insight. I just ordered new filters. Time to replace them anyways.

Hopefully this will solve the issue.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Google that condition

The following issues generally trigger trouble code P2097: Exhaust leak near the downstream O2 sensor: If there is an exhaust leak near your downstream oxygen sensor, then not all of the gas emissions escaping from the exhaust stream will be measured by the rear sensor.

Probably the mechanic is correct. The cat converter has a leak.

Been a long time since I've owned a forced induction. But from what I remember, couldn't you just remove the cat? I seem to remember ppl back in the day using 3-4" turbo back exhausts....

I fitted high Flow cats and Dump pipes and now i get P0430 and P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1&2 every other day and only when driving sedately?

I have 02sensor fooler's and it took 4 days for the engine light to come on initially :(

Any solutions??

Did it work
It helped with it running rough when under acceleration on all maps. I believe my issue with the engine code is with my JB4. With me being in the cold, I am not burning all of the fuel in the engine since the air is colder. When running Map 0, the engine code does not come on. Going to wait for summer to solidify my conclusion but I believe that's the issue.

I appreciate the input but I believe it's my JB4 running too rich on Map2 in the cold. Once I reverted to Map 0 and reset the code, I have not had the light come on in over 700 miles. I need to wait until the summer to see if this is correct.

I believe that could be an issue when installing those modifications. Unfortunately, I have stock exhausts so I can't really help you. I have seen that issue on the forums before so you might just have to do some digging.
