I have been overboosting at higher MPH's and am wondering about a fix. I've seen the EWG wires for sale as a solution to overboosting, but does the JB4 app offer a way of setting maximum boost for say maps 1 thru 3? I'd like to be able to fix this without adding another component. Thanks!
The JB4 will help with overboost, but even with the EWG wires installed and all settings being correct and adjusted appropriately, I was still running into overboost conditions being set, and that was before I had even put my downpipes in. I said screw it and bought a Lozic ECU, been golden ever since.
The jb4 already has target boost psi built into Maps 1 through 3. The EWG wires will most likely solve your overboost issues with your JB4 unless you have some other underlying problem.
I've overboosted slightly on cold mornings running Map 4 and set my FF down to 45 from 50 with the EWG wires and it solved it.
Thanks for the input everyone. I sometimes use MAP3 but never go beyond that, and I've overboosted on 1, 2, and 3. I'll give the EWG wires a shot. I've looked at the install instructions and I hope my hands aren't too big. That plug on the passenger's side turbo looks tight!
I hope you're right. The pic I'm looking at has the entire airbox removed and there looks to be 1.5 maybe 2 inches of a gap between the wheel well and the plug that's inserted into the turbo. My hands just might be too big.
I had to get my son to get mine out. I think it was the drivers side that was the worst. My hands aren't even that big. Afterwards I wondered if putting the car up on Jackstands and taking off the bottom tray would make it easier, but I never really investigated further. There was a lot of cursing and some bloody knuckles that night!

If boost is going over target it's because wastegate dutycycle is too high and the turbos are spinning too fast. The only real fix is to slow them down with EWG connections.
