Looking at a GT1 and though its a Kia, will say in a 5 year span be reasonable to own/maintain or as I suspect because of the bigger engine, tires etc it would be more expensive then the family sedans.

you'll spend more on tires and gas than something like a camry or accord. Other than that, about the same.

I mean what are you comparing it to exactly? One could argue that a brand new Audi S4 is a family sedan or a fully-loaded STI is as well. If your question is what is the realistic cost of ownership, maintenance, and upkeep it is above average when compared to other "average" or "regular" family sedans. The car is not fuel-efficient by any measurement but I would say it has pretty "average" fuel economy when compared to other performance luxury sedans. The pads, rotors, and tires will go out faster than other standard family sedans. Oil changes should be around the same price as other family sedans when compared to a Camry or Accord; perhaps slightly more expensive. If your Stinger is AWD then it will cost more to own than RWD.

Can you be more specific to what you are cross-shopping and trying to understand cost wise? Some people put on less than 3000 miles in 5 years while others put on over 100k miles in that period of time. Some people drive mostly in bumper to bumper traffic while others have a good mix of city/highway with occasional track days thrown in on weekends during warmer months.

Are you going to do all the maintenance work yourself or go to an independent third party shop that you trust or the dealership? It's going to be, overall, cheaper to own for five years than a BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Maserati, Jaguar, Alfa Romeo, etc. It will probably be similar in maintenance cost to a Lexus, Acura, Infiniti, Lincoln, Genesis, Cadillac, etc since you can do most of their services cheaper due to a sister company (Lexus=Toyota, Acura=Honda, Infiniti = Nissan, etc). It will probably be more expensive than a similarly priced Camry, Accord, Golf, etc.

Makes sense? :D

Approximately three years in, all I've paid for maintenance is the four service levels; as I recall, c. $60 for a 1 (basic oil and filter change); $250 for a 2; $350 but less than $400 for a 3; and over $700 for a 4; The intervals go like this: 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 1, 4: the only 4 I've had so far was c. 35K miles, give or take; next one is due at c. 60K miles. I'm still on my original brakes. Rear tires on the staggered setup wear twice as fast as the fronts; I got c. 15K miles out of my rear OE Michelins and another 4K out of the fronts.

Thx. Put on about 10K per yr. have a audi a3 with maint package and has been a good this last 5 yrs . Tires and brake work pretty much the only out of pocket. With stinger gt1 being a bigger engine and tires was just curious if would be a more expensive to own compared to other kia models.

Yes the PS4's have a tread ware rating of 320 so they won't last long. I'm glad my AWD GT1 came with the Michelin Primacy all seasons. Tread ware rating of 540. Anyone know what when the AWD differential needs service?

Crap, never mind (was going on about service intervals): I reckon that gets done on the "4" service interval.

My stock factory OEM Michelin summer tires (2020 Stinger GT-RWD) are halfway worn at 6000 miles lmfao

So far years of owning a Porsche 981 maintenance close to 5,000 USD in about 5 years of use, Maintenance of my Stinger for 5 years expect about 1,500 USD. All this not considering tires and alignment in both cars. So you get the big picture.

54 years in a 981? Damn! :D

But seriously . . . OP, if you're the kind of person who sticks to the manufacturer's suggested maintenance schedule, the cost to keep the Stinger running (not including gas, tires, etc.) is pretty low.

yes Its pretty low compared to German rip off car brands. They quoted me thousands of dollars for brake rotors and disc replacement went to an indi got it for about 1000 USD. Every time I went to the stealer they charged me close to 400 USD just in oil change.

Stick to what the manual says to do and when. No need to follow dealer schedules. Did that with my 2012 Optima Hybrid and had zero issues.
