Sorry guys if this is a dumb question. We are looking at getting some rims for winter from a friend. I really don't understand the offset thing to well. He has offered me a pair of 18" Kia Kona rims with brand new winters on them. Will they work on our stinger?

Sorry for the dumb question

Thanks

Do you own a stinger with brembos?
Are you AWD...If they are 215/55/18 on the kona rims thats 5% bigger outer diameter than the stingers 225/45/18s.
I personally wouldnt do it....if the rims fit buy the proper sized tires. They will fit as long as they clear the calipers Im not sure what the offset on the kona rims are but as long as they are close and clear the calipers you should be good.

They are 225/45/18 tires I was concerned about the offset .it's then anything to be honest.

Actual I made a mistake. They are off a Kia Soul. The offset from what I read for a souls is 42-46. Everything else is identical, centre bore etc

Do they clear the calipers?

Offset does not guarantee that they clear the calipers. The shape of the rim either clears of doesn't clear.
I have used 42 offset steel wheels on my stinger in the past, with 225/45/18 - cleared calipers

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Here are the specs for the Kia Soul rims.

18" should clear?

Wheels on FWD cars typically have higher offset, so you'll have to add spacers to correct them closer to 34mm for the front axle. IMO, too much trouble than it's worth.

If you want OEM wheels, you'd better looking at RWD platform. The only other Kia RWD (non EV) is the K900. So, either Genesis G70, 80, or the older Hyundai Genesis sedan and Coupe.

DJ above uses 42 offset steelies, if they are 42-46 they should be good to go.
Only way to know for sure is to put them on. Aside from offset is the cutout on the inside of the rim, some rims have a smaller cutout.

Found another picture.

Can see the rims I used has a sort of bubble shape, to accommodate the caliper. 20220217_085152_resize_85.webp
