Hi everyone,

I have a 2020 Stinger GT1 and have some mods in mind. The list of the mods is below in the order that I'm thinking of purchasing and installing but was wondering what order other people did, plan to do, or would like me to do. Im thinking a mod/bundle per month. Im open to discussing different mods, more mods, or brands as well.

1. DIY intake kit - done, looks pretty good and turbo/bov noises and inexpensive
2. MBRP T304 cat back exhaust
3. DIY catch can or BMS
4. DENSO "1 step colder" plugs regapped to .025
5. JB4 tuner with wireless controller and fuel wire adaptors

#1 - Front and rear sway bars
Even on the 20MY? I haven't felt that bad of body roll but I guess I don't have anything to compare it to besides the Subaru that was on racing suspension I used to have

I'm pretty sure they haven't changed them - (a part number search would confirm)

I did the DIY intakes and they were okay. But i just didn't get the satisfaction from them that I was looking for and quickly (within a couple of days) purchased the AEM intakes. I just didnt like the DIY look. You could tell they weren't really supposed to be there. You may end up feeling the same way if you're anything like me.

The catch can however... I have a cheap one from amazon and it seems to work great. 1/10 of the cost of some of the stinger specific ones. In my opinion, this is a better place to go DIY/universal than the intakes.

I doubt they changed the sway bars but possibly stiffened the suspension since its electronically dampened. I will search though and if not will add them to my list. Thanks!

I like the look of mine. I attached a picture of what mine look like before the supports I put in. Still no heat shield though.

That looks really clean. I had chrome piping which didn't look as good as that. And some universal heat shields. I think that's what made it look worse for me.

yeah i thought about getting chrome piping but autozone had these black textured pipes so it worked out really well. And from what i've read, heat shields really aren't that important on the stinger if the intakes are towards the front and right behind the bumper inlets. I just don't have the funds for a real CAI or else i would've got an actually one

Agreed, probably a software tweek... you could wrap the intake pipes with some gold heat reflective tape for some bling if you wanted ;)

Hey austin116,

Doing a monthly mod purchase is an awesome way to build up your car over time. You really get to appreciate each part when doing things in that way. Here at K8, we can help you get whatever you would need for your Stinger. I would recommend checking out the Injen Intakes and a quality oil catch like the Add W1 or Mishimoto one. Things I would recommend adding for performance would be an Ultimate Performance Downpipe Combo Kit and Eibach Sway Bars.

Let me know if you ever have any questions. You can always reach me in a private message on here. I would be glad to answer any questions that I can, and get you hooked up with a discount on your packages as well.

All the best,

Daniel @ K8 Stinger Store

Which catch can did you go with and any tips on the install. I'm looking to get one but can't imagine spending 200 for 1 or 400 for 2. Thanks

I was going to start with a CAI, but decided to go with Rakker's snorkels. I am not disappointed. Not sure if it's a placebo affect, but it certainly feels more responsive. The lag I felt when getting on it is gone.

I ordered this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D8V55Q5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I used an L bracket from the Home Depot to mount it using one of the factory air box holes. I have AEM intakes, so the rear threaded hole inst used anymore. The only other thing you'll want to get are new hoses since the supplied hose will only fit one side and is really flimsy. One is a 1/2" inner diameter, and the other is 3/8" inner diameter. I also found those on amazon. just search for catch can hose or fuel hose.

Here's a link to another thread where I posted some pics. What's good catch can?

If I had to do it all over...
  1. Sway bars, front and rear - Makes the car feel MUCH better around corners (Eibachs on mine)
  2. Catch can - Just seems like good preventive maintenance (sxth element here)
  3. CAI - I've got the AEM setup, homemade/BMS never looked good to me. Lets you really hear the blow-off noises.
  4. Cat back exhaust - Put air in, got to let air out. The Borla is really loud and fun, but better with aftermarket tips.
  5. Catless Midpipes - ARK pipes deepened the tone and give some more gurgles/pops and turbo noises.
  6. JB4+plugs - I haven't done this, but it may be on the menu eventually.
Actual order was more like 4, 3, 2, 5, 1...

How much did the sound change with the akra. tips? I recently put on the borla catback and ark mids. Not exactly 100% satisfied. I think it makes the car a little too loud/not the right sound at lower rpm. I'm hoping aftermarket tips and some sound deadening material will do the trick.

New tips should honestly be a required part of the Borla kit - but not the actual Borla ones, because who tf has $1K for tips? I was in the same boat as you after adding just the cat-back; it's quite a shock in cabin noise when compared to the quiet the stock system. The Akrap. tips quieted down the interior of the car so much more than I expected. Definitely more than lining the trunk with Dynamat/Dynaliner did. They really help push the exhaust sound out past the bottom of the car and keep it from reverberating into the cabin.
