I noticed my coolant was low so I bought the Asian green and went to top it up but when I opened the reservoir, the coolant was orange. I know you shouldn't mix coolants but is the orange coolant fine or should I have the system flushed and fill with green?

Mileage?
Year?

What's wrong with your orange coolant?

2018 170000km. Nothing wrong with the coolant just wasn't sure if the color was a big deal. Orange is typically for GM vehicles from what I've seen. But the manual just says ethylene glycol based coolant for the aluminum rad mixed with distilled water so I'm assuming it's all good to just top up with the same orange coolant. Last time I had the system flushed was at the dealership around 100000km so they're the ones who put the coolant in. Just threw me off because when I bought coolant to top up, everything pointed to Asian vehicle green.

Usually it's either pink or green for asian vehicles. Mine came with pink.

I don't think the color is definitive the way it used to be, and remember seeing the same formulation (POAT/"Asian vehicle") in several colors -- check out the labels for Peak/Asian pink, blue, and green below. Green says Kias 1990 and up, but ingredients match.

I've also read that Hyundai/Kia switched over from green to pink OEM either for slightly longer life or arbitrarily based on production line, and that they're otherwise compatible, and the Autozone/Oreillys lookups showed green for my Stinger even though mine is bright pink. Since they looked identical I went with pink mostly out of superstition.

No need to flush but you shouldnt mix fluids so go buy some orange.

If it is just a little low, and this is the first time adding coolant, I would just add distilled water. No concern over mixing coolant types, and the small amount won't significantly change the coolant/water ratio.
If you get to where you have to keep adding coolant, then either figure out if it is leaking, or then worry about getting the right coolant.

Universally works with all fluid colors; All OAT, POAT, HOAT & IAT; G05®, G11®, G12®, G12++®, G13®, G30®, G40®, & GG40®. For all engines & engine sizes, new and older engines.

That stuff is incredibly compatible.

Interesting table.

The GM Orange is DexCool, and that can turn into gel if you add plain old glycol coolant.
Color used to be a good indicator because there was green (glycol) and orange (dexcool). But the past ~10 years that's gone out the window and apparently coolant color is a f'n styling choice now.

I have blue in mine, from factory. 2019 EU spec.
PS: Had to refill about 0.4 liters which I lost during an unrelated job last week. Sadly I added a little too much. Do I need to worry about this tiny amount over the F line? I don't have a pump..

Nope. It's an overflow bottle. The radiator has the maximum and overflows to the bottle That is the "excess" to the radiator that flows back and forth to the radiator.

That's what I have in case I need to top off... Premix of course.

Yeah, I noticed that and it pisses me off. Some of the pink stuff out there looks like it's incompatible with the pink that comes in our Stingers, but the Asian blue looks like it is chemically compatible even though mixing them would make a horrible color that would look like something is seriously wrong

Hyundai/Kia made the switch-over to pink around 2020 for most models.

However note the green that came in earlier years Stinger's is not your traditional old school green but is actually long life(10yrs) same as new pink.

Which pink coloured coolant is not compatible with Kia pink coloured coolant?

Honestly, I'm no chemist, but if I look up pink coolant online, it usually comes up with euro vehicle pink coolant and "not compatible with your Stinger". Meanwhile, the coolants that do come up as compatible are the turquiose asian vehicle coolants--unless it's universal coolant compatible with everything.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but as I said I'm no chemist. Maybe the euro pink vehicle coolant is the same or compatible with the Stinger pink coolant (or maybe the stinger uses the euro coolant and the auto store specs are wrong; it wouldn't be the first time). But then again, maybe it's not compatible. I don't know. I don't want to take the chance, personally. What's frustrating is that the Euro pink spec seems to be OAT/HOAT based, and the turquoise asian spec seems to be OAT/HOAT as well.

I have the pink coolant for my 2022. I was low back in September so I topped it off. Checked today and it’s low again at bottom of visible reservoir. Well below the F/L. I’ve only driven 3400 miles.

How often does everyone top off?

I used to get the dealership to top up the coolant in between and during services.

Recently I felt I kind of had enough of this so I bought a 5L bottle ($35AUD) off them. I can now top up coolant in the comfort of my garage.

Your 2022 appears to be venting coolant at a faster rate than mine. At about 6,000kms mine had gone down from F to just a bit lower than halfway between F & L.
