Hey guys I'm looking at a 19 GTS AWD from the dealer at 44k miles, asking $34k. Want this to be my daily and would be trading in my 21 forte GT and want to make sure this thing could hold up. It's my dream trim and I love this orange.

So, what's your question?

Sorry, had a long better response but wouldn't let me share. Question is, will this car be a good choice to hold up or should I walk away not trusting the previous owner? Engine was replaced under warranty but 3rd party mechanic gave it his approval for trans and everything else.

that is slightly under normal miles and a desirable trim. if the third party assessment of the whole care is a 'go' then $34,000 isn't outrageous but I think it's a bit high. I'll put it this way, if I have the money and I want a stinger pretty bad and this particular car checks all the cautionary boxes I'd buy it.

Not sure how much I would trust buying a stinger with a replaced engine before 44k miles...sounds like some one was doing the mod route and decided to get out from under it...I wouldnt touch it if it were me. Make sure you look at it carefully for signs of previous mods at the very least.

Stinger is a good choice( it's stinger forum after all). But I wouldn't buy that particular one, if the engine was replaced. I would look for 1 owner unmodified with dealership records. And wouldn't mind paying more. But that's personal opinion.

That's the biggest thing, everything seems to check the boxes fine other than the rims have been bent to varying degrees and the dealer tried to pass of warped rotors which were very noticeable during the test drive.

So the main reason I'm still considering because normally I'd have your standpoint, but it checks the boxes, 3rd party says new engine shouldn't be a concern, just a kia acknowledgment of something bad. BUT I know this car has the rare trim only getting rarer, 0 mile engine, brand new tires, rotors, brakes, and trying to convince them into rims or I'll ask 30k

Find a local performance shop, see if they have stinger experience. Pay them to have a look and see if anything else has been modded, have them look at it and give their assessment. I good performance shop knows what to look for in former abuse..most normal mechanics dont.

lol, bent rims means drifting - into things. absolutely get the price knocked down enough to pay for brand new wheels.

We're just had someone posted about buying stinger with replaced engine due to abuse. If that is the same case with that stinger, I would drift from that car asap.

What was the reason for engine replacement?

I am that post lol, the only reason I’m at this point now is because an independent highly recommended 3rd party checked it out and passed well minus the wheel situation.

I see. Well, looks like you really want that particular one. At least try to get it at a great price trying to offset the risk of abused transmission . 34 is just an average price, probably is even little higher than average.

Maintenance wise it won’t be bad but be ready for much more gas and tires compared to the forte.

Yea I understand that, I will say I was surprised, all of my driving to work is backroads and highway. On my test drive for 9 miles of 45 with stop lights in eco mode, it was reading 27 which stunned me. I’m guessing I can get 30 with no stoplights. I’ve seen people say tires can last 30-40k, I’m a like 25/75 push the limits driver and will not get staggered when these ones would wear out.

With over 100k highway miles I’ve never averaged more than 26-27 on long trips, but that’s pretty good averaging 75mph. It really depends on the tires and driving style, I’ve seen 50k miles plus on Primacy Tour A/S staggered set up on 19’s. However if you have the PS4S Michelin’s you’ll be lucky to see 20k miles.

Clearly you want this car and are just looking at some validation. I haven't bought a used car in decades and there is a reason for that. 1. I like a car that I know everything about. 2. I keep it new so I am always driving a new car.

People rarely change cars because there is nothing wrong with them. Remember the guy in here some time back who had the best Mazda something you ever saw. Wanted a premium price then complained the trade in was low for the new Stinger he wanted. He mentioned afterwards that the seat warmer was busted and would cost $1000 to fix and the brakes were stuffed but hey he showed that dealer didn't he....

If this car was at a Kia dealership, certified, and you had the Kia warranty on the engine and everything else was immaculate I would say yes, but now you are talking about bent rims......

The fixation is the new engine. A pin prick hole where? Manufacturers sell every part of an engine and a rebuild is still always cheaper........

I think you are going to be in a world of pain with this car but if you really want it...........

Or pot holes...
Bent rims doesn't really mean much.

Why is there multiple posts for the same thing?
