Trim, doing what? I presume you're noticing discoloration/spotting. This appears to be caused by local climate conditions.
Side mirrors will stop angling down if you select the middle position on the mirrors adjustment switch; if you have it in either the L or R position, then going into Reverse will angle the mirrors down (read your manual; this is a weird question to be asking after a year of ownership!?).

I suppose we're going to have to rely on muscle memory! Although I do seem to accidentally hit the button closer to me (the one that allows you to adjust the mirror angle) quite often, and I'm like "Why won't my mirrors fold in!"

And if I reach for the mirror adjustment L/R selection switch (above the adjustment arrows, which are lighted), I end up hitting the mirror fold in/out switch, i.e. almost inevitably I reach too far into the dark.

This leads me to a possible idea: Add some kind of plastic tab that you can slide between those two, a similar function to a traditional keyboard where you have little tabs sticking out of the "F" and "J" key. Hm...
