Hi!
This morning I took off the engine under-cover to spray some silicone lube on the stabiliser bar links and noticed that there was a little build up of oil residue at the outlet of the intercooler.
Going home this afternoon I passed by the dealer and asked them to take a look in case it's something very serious. They said they can't find any cut or something like that in the piping and it's probably just some gases/oil that escaped over time. There were 3 mechanics looking at it and all were very relaxed about it.
They cleaned it up and will check it again in about 1 month to see if there is new build up.
What confuses me is what are gases / oil doing in the intercooler? And also, could the fact that they apparently escape be something to worry about?
It's the 2.0 engine.

Carter pressure vents to the intake hose when the PCV opens. Always a bit of oil in those fumes. Use an oil catch can in the PCV line if that bothers you.

Ok, I thought whatever comes out from the PCV is pushed back into the intake by the air coming from the intercooler.
So if I understand correctly what you're saying, it means that some oil from the PCV gases sticks to the hose and then accumulates at the base of it (at intercooler output)?
I was afraid it was the turbo pushing oil through the intercooler. However, I've never had to add any oil in the 150k km (93k miles) I've done with the car (I change the oil every 10k km).

Pop the connection off and see how much oil is in there.

IMO, you probably have a failed turbo compressor seal.

Will probably end up doing that for peace of mind.
I was thinking that maybe the mechanics were so relaxed because they thought the car was still under warranty and they did not want to find anything wrong.
