I've done about 4 oil changes on my Stinger and never had this issue. Here's what happened...
I changed the oil (Valvoline Modern Engine 5W-30) and used a WIX WL10237 oil filter cartridge. (I usually use Napa Gold - that is also made by Wix) I replaced the O-ring on the filter housing like I always do with a little oil on the O-ring to lube it. Placed the filter in the housing and hand threaded it into the oil filter location. Used my socket to snug it until it stops. I was looking around under the engine and noticed a few drips of oil on the passenger side roughly under the turbo... (about 2 feet from the oil filter) I buttoned it up and called the dealership a few days later to get the leak checked.
I got a call saying the oil filter area was leaking. I said "Whaaaat?!?" I said that's impossible - I changed it myself and replaced the O-ring... So i went to the dealer and they showed me. It was leaking a little from the housing... The mechanic said it was likely the O-ring... I said - OK fix it, but what about the other area under the turbo on the passenger side... he said it came from the filter. I said - impossible - I saw this as I was changing my oil - it wasn't leaking from the filter housing before...
I think the mechanic had wiped the oil from the passenger side... I saw it had been wiped. I'm supposed to take it back in about another 100 miles to recheck the leak.
I'm just warning folks about the O-ring not seating properly and leaking a bit. Take a bit more time and make sure it seats. Possibly leave the shroud off and take it for a test drive then check it before buttoning it up...
I'll let y'all know about the other leak once I show it to the mechanic - before he wipes it off.
