• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Has anyone done there own oil change yet? I’d normally use Penrite oil but I’m a bit confused with what oil spec the Stinger needs. Is it a 5W-30 SN C3 oil that’s required? Seems Penrite only does a CL oil in this grade.

My Dealer uses Castrol

Penrite's recommendation for our car is their 5W30 Full Synthetic:

FULL SYNTHETIC 5W-30 | Penrite Oil

My Dealer used Havoline 5W-30 Synthetic

+1 on Penrite full synthetic I have used it for more than 25 years in many turbo and high performance cars, I see no reason to change.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
My mechanic uses Penrite fully synthetic - either HPR5 or Ten Tenths (depending on availability). He used to be the service manager at a Kia dealership but now has his own performance & mechanical garage.

Magnatec is semi synthetic & Magnatec Professional is fully synthetic.

cheers,

seeing that Super Cheap don’t have the pro version, is it available to consumers or just mechanics?
Mate, I’m not sure I just googled the different & this is what I got, I’m sure you can buy it for personal use, Penrite Fully Synth is pretty good.

My guess was that if super cheap don’t stock it (they pretty much have all other Castrol products) it might not be available.

Here’s a non-pro version thats fully synthetic. So what the real deal with the Pro label?

Anyone?

Is the same stuff as the regular Magnatec that's $17-18 in the US?

Since I like to beat on it and it runs hot, I went with that, i'm sure it would be good for your australian heat.

It's available to anyone but afaik the smallest quantity is 20lt.

Magnatec Professional is primarily for the trade as it most commonly comes in 205lt drums but can also be had in 20lt containers. It's an Australian made product whereas all the Castrol products in the typically 6lt bottles are made in Malaysia.
The equivalent to 5w30 professional is Magnatec Stop Start A5. It's not exactly the same formula but is so close that it doesn't make any difference.

My dealer has the Magnatec pro stuff too... I assume they get it cheap.
I've used Castrol EDGE 5w30 ... in previous owned cars (for Bmw's, Fords etc). It is (supposedly) their premium and above the magnatec range?
My mechanic uses Royal Purple ... so I will go to him for any mid-service changes.
