So this is my first car with any sort of decent warranty. I do all my own maintenance, So my question is what's the best way to document that I have done the proper fluid and filter changes just in case anything does come up that would require such documentation.
I hope that all makes sense. Thanks

Receipt. Photo while doing it. Write the date on the oil filter.

Yes its easy and BTW never had a problem with a stealer. I do have a log book that I use to record all maintenance expenses which references the receipts and mileage and date the work was done by me or others.

I write down the date, mileage, and oil used in the maintenance log book that came with the car.

Whereabouts on the filter cartridge would you write the date? And would it even be recognizable after several thousand miles bathed in hot oil? If it were a spin-on filter I could see doing that.

Ahh. I’m used to spin on ones. Just log it somewhere.

I use an app called Simply Auto. I take pictures of my receipt and the oil/filters I used. I log the miles and dates when I performed my oil changes and other maintenance that I did myself. I like this app because you can generate reports if and when you need to show proof.

Great tip. I will look for it.

I would have timestamps with dates, locations, and times the work was performed (at a buddy's driveway when I used to live in Virginia lmfao). I had parts listed, receipts, and took time-stamped photos on my phone. Never had an issue thankfully.

I had my first oil change performed at a trusted mechanic through a friend. We have paperwork and documentation of what was done just in case the dealership tries to Mickey Mouse me in the future.

You should be good. :)

I keep my receipts in a notebook, log everything into my Fuelly app, and also have a Google Sheets spreadsheet where I write everything (date, mileage, oil brand & weight, filter brand & model number, and place(s) of purchase) down. I can’t imagine that those three things combined wouldn’t be enough.
