Hey everyone. I know this has been extensively discussed and I don't want to beat a dead horse here but I gotta vent and ask for some advice. Let me start this by saying I absolutely LOVE my 2018 GT2. I've had it for just under 2 months and 2000 pampered miles. My wife says I have a love affair with my car. I two bucket wash it and wax it myself, bought all the best detailing products and she still looks brand new. I put some nice aesthetic 'mods" on her but nothing performance wise yet. The Stinger is the best looking car on the road IMHO and this one is NO exception. Here's the problem...I was driving on the North side of Chicago last week with the windows up and music off and I couldn't BELIEVE the amount of creaks coming from the doors and the sunroof. Mainly the doors and B-pillar area. I had heard minor ones before but NOTHING like this. Definitely getting worse. Every bump sounded like I was in the hull of the Santa Maria! I understand this is a first year model build but this is atrocious. Drove it extensively today...same thing. My wifes 2011 Rouge sounds better driving down the road and that has 60k on it and has been really abused. This car is soooooo close to perfect but to me this is a major flaw. Deal breaker type flaw. If it can't be rectified...sell the car type flaw and that's really unfortunate:( I, like many others here, have mild OCD and this will drive me absolutely crazy! I can deal with occasional rattles and squeeks but now it's constant and this car has only 2000 miles on it. What's it gonna be like at 30,000?? Sounds like it's gonna fall apart. When I first bought the car, my buddies who are car nuts(beemers, Lexus, challanger Hellcat) said "WOWWWWW I cant BELIEVE this is a Kia, AMAZING"!!! Completely blown away!! Now its "Wellllll.... it IS a Kia soooooo you get what you pay for" and that really stinks because everything else about this car is awesome. I'm taking it in for my first oil change on Monday and I'm obviously gonna bring up these issues. I've read on other posts that people have had success replacing the sunroof frame and this process tightened up the entire car (Westcoast I'm looking at you LOL)! Has Kia done this for others and if so, did it help? Were the dealerships aware of the issue and if so,did they replaced the sunroof without any problems or did you have to jump through hoops? I know it seems to be a flex issue but is there any other permanent "fix" thats worked for anyone? Just figuring out how best to approach this. I'm not ok with them just lubing the seals. This is a 50k plus car and I'm not gonna put a band aid over a bullet wound. Ill give the dealer a shot to fix it and if not I'll get Kia USA involved. If that doesn't do it, I may have to actually consider trading it in:( Believe me, that's the last thing I want to do but I'm at a loss. I've tried to ignore it and tell myself "Well its a small price to pay for such a great car" but now its getting baaaaad. Just last week I told my wife I'd be a Stinger owner for life. Darn shame. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Also, sorry for rehashing an old discussion.

Sorry...posted this in the wrong section:(

The Lounge is a good place to talk about your car. Stinger Talk works too. And it isn't old talk, it's brand new, literally: brand new car with brand new extraneous noises!? Crap!

If my GT1 were noisy like that I'd be so disappointed. If the noises couldn't be knocked back a ton, I would suffer the same fate that disappointment brings (and disappointment is one of the worst pains).
Every bump sounded like I was in the hull of the Santa Maria!
Funny, not funny! That has to be the best descriptive metaphor anyone has come up with yet.

Taking it to a dealer probably won't do you much good. Get used to it.

I also started getting door frame and sunroof ticking noises after 2/3k miles and it was quite Irritating for a new car of this price. If I wanted to hear a noisy interior I’d get in my 03 mustang. Anyway, I tried some of the solutions in the “door frame noise thread” and adding some coins behind the door striker seemed to quite up my front doors by about 90%. My sunroof also had a ticking noise (no creaking) and that went away after I put some lubricant on the spot that was noisy.
I avoided the dealer because I really didn’t want any of their “service techs” getting crap all over my interior or messing something up.

there are 3 or 4 threads on the subject if you search ...............long story short , I made a file with Kia Canada because I had the same noises you are experiencing ...................they replaced the complete sunroof frame assembly , result , car is 100% quiet , no sun roof creaking , no door ticking , and the torsional rigidity seems better as no sqeaks occur going up slanted driveways etc ..............good luck !! there are a few members here with the exact issue

(Westcoast I'm looking at you LOL)!
I think he knew that already! But a good, warm fuzzy story bears repeating. A success story is the warmest, fuzziest of all. I like reading it again, which is why you get another thumb up from me. :D

i was seriously going to have to sell my car if the sounds could not get fixed , it was that bad , And I was really getting grumpy ! I've edured some correctable damage in the process and you should be prepared for some as the corrective surgery is pertty invasive BUT the result is ....................Fabulous !!!:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I feel 100% like the OP does. I really want mine fixed but I have trust issues with the dealer I prefer to use, so I've been impatiently biding my time to see if other owners having theirs fixed will result in some official documentation from Kia to help my dealer better assist me. I was offered what I considered a "good will gesture" since they basically said if something goes wrong when doing the frame replacement, too bad for me, they won't resolve any future noises or look at this further. I think the reason they did that is because they still don't believe that the sunroof is the issue. Mine has gotten so noisy on hot days it literally creaks and pops over the slightest imperfections and undulations in the road. If something doesn't come out from Kia soon, I will bite the bullet, demand the service manager take a ride, offer to call Kia corp to escalate and see where it goes. If they can't make the car better (although I'm certain the actually can), I will dump the car and go back to used cars. I've been disappointed with extraneous noises in every new car I have purchased since 2009 so it's not worth the new car depreciation and expectation of quality for me to own new anymore.

I fully get what you're saying about your wife's old car being better. My wife's 2013 Santa Fe makes substantially less noise than my 6K mile Stinger and she has crap strewn about the cabin of the car too, I have next to nothing in mine. This Stinger is officially the WORST car I've owned for noises to date, exclusively from the sunroof.

If I were you, I'd do a little diagnosis to see if things like having the sunroof closed, vented, and slid back results in any more or less noise helps. Any things you can point out to the dealer like this will help your cause.

I'm in the same boat with the sunroof. Took it to the dealership and they said there is no "official" fix and escalated to KIA Canada...that was a month ago with no word. I now drive with the sunshade closed so I can't hear it as much.

Let's all make sure we push when we do address our dealers with this issue (I will do the same when I take mine in). I'm afraid if nobody pushes (although westcoastGT did), there never will be an "official" fix. We ALL need to be the squeaky wheel unfortunately.

I'll likely be bringing mine in later July or sometime August at the very latest if nothing else develops.

If I can help in a way I would be happy to , whether individually or as a group , pls feel free to PM me as well ...............here's to an "official Fix "

Thanks everyone for your imput! I'm sorry to say but its actually kinda comforting to know others have had this issue. I woke up this morning and took a ride to grab some breakfast and the noises from the doors/windows/sunroof were worse than ever. I was driving down the road cursing at the top of my lungs and thinking how am I gonna get rid of this car without losing half of my money:(. I gathered myself and bee-lined to Home Depot and bought some Super Lube to grease the window and door seals. Cant believe it but 100% of the creaking from the doors and windows is GONE!!! I'll have to re-apply it from time to time but I would rather do that then let the dealership rip apart my car. Still some minor squeaking coming from the sunroof but I'm gonna let the dealership handle that. They'll probably apply the lube and if that doesn't work (which it won't) I'll tell them I want the sunroof replaced. I'm all for making a stink about this. Together we stand!! Power in numbers! Im so happy to say my love affair for the car has been rekindled LOL! Now if you'll excuse me...I'm gonna take her Lake Shore Drive and open her up a bit:) Thanks everyone and I wish you all quiet driving!

Same experience here, Silicone spray lubricant got rid of most of my noises.

yup amazing difference! Just got back from a nice, quiet drive and the car sounds better than the day I bought it! Super Happy! A 20 dollar bottle of lube saved me a ton on trade-in depreciation lol. Never had to do this with any other car but thats fine by me:)

I am going to try to do mine every 60-90 days, it is pretty easy.

wow... too much text to read. :p

I tried silicone spray and Gummi Pflege, neither fixed my problem. Although I am certain my issue is structural and not the seals, I do have a ton of Super Lube on the shelf in the garage, I suppose it would be free to try...lol.
