We had one that did the same to us in my prius, but it fell on the road, slid, we clipped its rump. It jumped up and ran, cracked my BRAND NEW JUST PUT ON FRONT BUMPER! But it lived. Ours was a female.

Giant MICE, that's all deer are. Years ago, I was trying my best to miss a doe that was angling through a field toward me. Slowed down to under 20 MPH and the silly thing still ran across the front of my van close enough to make me swear (I didn't soil myself, only because I had ample warning of the encounter).
