700hp would be really great in a Mustang. I'm not sure how well it would handle but I have to imagine there would be suspension upgrades to go along with this. At least I hope so. The Mustang 5.0 of the 80s and early 90s was "the enemy" to me - as I was an F-Body guy with Trans Ams, Camaros and Firebirds. But I did like them quite a bit. Most recently with the new retro look - they've caught my eye again. They're really attractive cars - especially the most recent design...

Ha, my wife and I both had '88 Mustang, mine the 302 cu. inch/5 liter model. I think (hope so) the Stinger will ride better and be more controllable than any Mustang, Charger etc. IMHO. Your results may vary :)

Those cars were so light and quick - and with intake and exhaust, they really woke up. The 5.0s ruled the streets back then. :) I'm sure the Stinger will ride better than today's Mustangs but I'm not sure if it'll out-handle them...

Yeah, but what price is the kit? And then to have it installed, tuned, etc.... OY!

Back in the middle 90's I helped put a supercharger on my friend's '94 Camaro; the last year of the IROC Z28 badged. While looking back on it now, I personally wouldn't do it again and would take it to a shop. It was time consuming and there were serval instances in which we almost blew ourselves up (well, setting ourselves on fire at least), putting in the additional fuel pump in the fuel tank, baking new fuel lines to put in a T connector, etc., all the while, smoking! Granted, its virtually impossible to ignite gasoline with a cigarette but what about striking the lighter/match to light the cigarette? LOL! Man, were we stupid but that sucker would haul ass! It would pull on a Dodge Viper for 2-3 lights (think of city blocks) and then after that, the Viper would creep up and start pulling away from us. I wish we would have gotten the chance to put it on a dyno and had it tuned properly. Then his wife got the car in the divorce. She didn't want the house, only the car. WTF? Talk about rubbing salt in the wound!

but what price is the kit?

Guess you were so impressed, you overlooked the paragraph in the write-up:
“Cost was not mentioned in Ford's announcement, but by comparison a Ford Performance 670-horsepower supercharger kit for 2015-17 Mustangs lists for $7,100.”

Would Ford charge more/less for installing this ex factory? Are there additional charges involved for possible heavier hardware where it counts? Well, sooner or later, Ford will divulge the price. LOL

In any case, if you get something like this, don't get a divorce! :)

All my Fords including Mustang GT rusted prematurely. Won't buy another.

rusted prematurely

Hmmm, I give you, that most metals can oxydize...but talk to my mechanic, who wanted to buy my truck. Or the tow truck driver who drove my truck on his flatbed to the dealer. He told me, that he has not seen a 1998 F150 in this good condition in a long time. Or my wife's niece, who took over the wife's 1988 Mustang in 2002 and drove it for another 10 years.
It's not hard to explain, just do a yearly rustproofing, here in Canada it's Krown or RustCheck, at $140.00 a crack. After the first 10 years, every second year would probably suffice. Most people wont do it, even though, you can probably make it back when you sell the car, because of its (good) condition.
My neighbour aquired a white Avalanche about 5 years ago. The truck was used, maybe 2 years old when he got it. Looked good. I suggested to go with RustCheck. We are in Ontario, so lots of snow, ice & salt. He said the dealer put one of those electronic gadgets in. I can tell you now, all Avalanches rust, big time. White paint & rust is really ugly.
Guess what I am going to to with the Stinger? Exactly! Because I have the proof in my driveway what works. My father always told me that oil and dirt are the best protection against rust. And I am going to stick with it. Besides, it's cheap insurance.
The only thing that is going to be a PITA are the Stinger's bottom panels. You are probably aware, that the car bottom is almost completely flat for aerodynamic reasons. To get at the brake & fuel lines and the hidden frame parts, these panels probably have to come off for the service. We'll see.
Keep things protected and any car will be fine. For a long time. :)

I don't mean to change the subject but I just learned something - that the bottom of the Kia Stinger is almost completely flat for aerodynamics. That's interesting... I wonder which other cars do this. I will guess it's only done at the higher end of the pricing spectrum...

One of the early Korean videos had a great post-delivery inspection video where they put it up on a lift. I'll see if I can find it again.

This one was posted quite a while back, but I see they've now added real English subtitles (not auto-gen). Great delivery inspection video as a whole, but skip to 11m49s to see them put it on the lift and go over the underside in detail.

Thank you. It looks like they've covered up as much as they could without holding onto heat. I've never seen that before. Then again, I don't really look under cars. :p

Wow, yeah! Look at that! And damn that silver/grey - whatever it is - it's nice and metallicy - and I like it!

I will have to full watch this video later, at home, but yeah, they look to go over this car with a fine toothed comb from a buyer's perspective!

These were my original comments on it in July. Guess I forgot they'd already added the subtitles. I watched so many KDM videos early on, they have blended together in my brain.

Both of these videos have recently had English captioning added by a third-party (kicksubs.com), so they are very worth watching now. The red GT in the 2nd video is apparently Stinger #2, purchased as a company car, and they have multiple videos posted on their channel related to it (not all are subtitled). There are some interesting build quality issues they point out upon delivery in the "3.3 inspection" video above, which they had Kia repair, and also a very cool look at the underside of the chassis. I was very excited to see an interior detail that I'm personally OCD about (telescoping sun visors), but is rarely discoverable on the spec sheets.

Something just struck me. The underside of the Sitnger looks very much like the bottom of the metal friction drive toy cars I played with as a kid.

I've never seen that before.

Ahem... "Car Guys" do look under cars.....like this one. Probably my all-time favourite: Citroën DS, built from 1955 to 1975, as a sedan, convertible & station wagon. In one iteration, the car could be had with a Maserati engine.
And one could change a tire without a jack.
Had a flat bottom.
Was heavenly soft sitting in it.
Google it!

Have you ever seen the bottom side of a Citroën DS? The Tesla Model S has nothing on this 1954 design. Photo credit: Citroënët

Hey, that's interesting! I learned something new today. I'm still sort of new to Citroen's so hopefully I can get away with not knowing this. :p
