I just wanted ro look around and see what magic these cars can do. I bought a 2017 focus st for a daily last year after my raise and since I get another one this year I've been trying to figure out what I wanted after I get my house. Has anyone big been tuning the stinger GT yet? The only vids I've seen have been mod ones not tuning ones.

Check out Tork Motors. His Stinger is one of the fastest around right now. Owns his own shop and makes parts. There are a couple of chips out there right now that you can buy but I would wait a little more because I feel that there will be better ones coming out soon. Btw get the GT, it’s absoultely amazing! :)

@Focus4now, I would recommend spending some quality time watching professional reviews of the Stinger. There are dozens (or more) video links here in another thread, or you can just search for Stinger reviews on YouTube and see what virtually every -- EVERY -- reviews says about this car. It has already made "car of the year" on a couple of sites, the cover of Motor Trend magazine, and you can see how owners here feel about it.

WARNING: Do NOT test drive one unless you're ready to buy

Yeah originally I was going with a 2018 or 2019 mustang but i cant loose 4 doors and I would prefer something decent in the snow since my job can change locations quickly

So I was looking at the Stinger GT AWD

Only downside is no manual, but the only thing even close that i can get manual is an STI or maybe a focus RS since within the next year they will be going from 350 to 400hp

The 3.3TT at only 365HP is a lot quicker than it's specs suggest. The twins are twin-spool and provide a lot of low end torque with a very flat torque curve, while the 8-speed does a remarkable job in Sport mode of keeping the power in the sweet spot of the wheelhouse. It does have paddle shifters but I seldom use them because the transmission is "smart" and stays pretty much where it knows it needs to be.

One comparison I love is from Car & Driver. Look at the 471HP Lexus LC500 vs. the Stinger GT. The Lexus has something like 398 ft/lb of torque compared to 376 ft./lb for the Stinger. 0-60 for the LC500 was 4.5 sec. and top end 170. 0-60 on the Stinger was 4.4 sec. and 167. (Both top ends are tire/computer limited.) You can Google those reviews online.

I dont know how but Lexus managed to build a 2 door compact sports car with the curb weight of an F150.

It's a miracle that thing gets to 60 in under 6 seconds.

Oh...and for the low low price of $100k!!!

^^^^ and I don't know how KIA built a Stinger that weighs as much as a 2008 Maserati 4 door with a V8 engine , just say'n .

All due to safety requirements. Also technology in cars isn't immune to the forces of gravity. That stuff adds up quickly.

So, in response to me pointing out how a 2 door sport compact car shouldn't be as heavy as a full size pickup truck you point out how a 4 door sedan weighs the same as a 4 door sedan?

Thanks for playin'.

In all seriousness, are you're talking about a Granturismo, which had a starting curb weight of 4150 lbs in 2008 or a Quattroporte which had a curb weight of nearly 4400 lbs?

For comparison's sake the Stinger's weight starts at 3600 lbs and gets up to a hair over 4,000. And that's with 10 years worth of additional tech/safety features/etc piled into it.

Well the extra 10 years don't add more weight. Relatively speaking the tech in 2008 is similar. Sure you can downsize and what not due to engineering efficiency and smaller transistors but the tech weight I think is similar.

I don't know much about Maserati (except for the weights I just googled) but were they loaded with all of the radar cruise, bling spot detection, cameras, side/knee/etc airbags, etc, etc that are common on cars today?

Ahhhhhh this is really helping my question about tuning rofl
