Looking to do a lease buyout on a 2020 GT1 or GT2 AWD. I have learned a great deal from this forum in just a few hours. I have reached out to 3 different dealers in my area (Southern MA and RI). The best dealer discount was about 5.8%. Another offered $2k off MSRP. Another zero dealer discount! Do I need to expand my search area and just reach out to as many dealers as I can? Or should I try working with the one that quoted 5.8%. I mentioned that I am looking for close to 10% off and the salesperson seemed to dismiss that as a possibility. Wonder how others were able to find 10% off MSRP. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy and welcome. If you're set on a 10% discount minimum, then you'll have to search far and wide. If a price is fair and you really want the car then buying at the dealer's discount without hassle/haggle will possibly endear them to you (if you deal through a good one that is). The start of a good relationship does not have all the win on one side. If you do the lease buyout that should reduce the negative side of not getting 10% dealer discount; the lease incentive will be the lion's share of cutting down MSRP.

Thanks. I’m not set on 10% but that seems to be the goal based on what I’ve read on this forum. I’m curious for those who actually get 10%. Do dealers offer such a large discount via email/text/phone without before going into the dealership? I feel like bases on the responses I received today, everyone was pretty firm in their discount or lack thereof which was a little surprising that these were 2020 models.

10% dealer discounts are rare anyway. And I'm sure they are the work of the buyer talking the dealer down. What isn't as rare are advertised deep discounts with strings attached; i.e. added back in "costs and fees and extras" (avoid the addon extras, they're just an inflated cost to get back the discounts).
