Hi all

I'm kind of surprised to be on this forum, since I wasn't looking to buy me a car. I have 2 Grand Cherokees, and a 2003 Mercury Marauder that is a driver, not a garage queen, but is kept awesome. Looks like a cop car, but built as a luxury performance car. Makes about 340 hp, it drips panache; it's my baby.
My daughter just graduated from college and we wanted to buy her a car. We went to the Kia dealer and saw a Stinger sitting there. I was curious so I had my daughter take it for a test drive. She didn't want it...too complicated (she didn't know what it was and drove like Grandma in spite of my pleas to step on the gas), so she carried on and bought a Hyundai Sonata.
I was curious about what was under the sheep's clothing, and 2 days later I went back and drove the Stinger.
HOLY COW !!
It's simply unreal.
And NICE !!
I couldn't get it off my mind, but I couldn't have 2 toys either. Couldn't part with the Marauder, I've met too many people with that regret; they're hard to find.
My wife said she'd never seen me like that, so she told me to get the Stinger and we would figure it out later (she loves the Marauder too). So we did. We drove the Marauder to pick up the Stinger, and when we did, we got a lot of attention, and one of the mechanics wanted to buy it.
That's when the pin dropped for my wife.
Grand Cherokee for sale, cheap!

Fun story. Ambushed by the fatal test drive, again, it happens all the time.

Great story.

This little story of mine probably goes against every car buying guide on the planet, but I bought my Stinger without ever driving one first.
Stingers were almost non existent, so there were no demo's around at the time (last summer), and the one Stinger that was at a dealer was in the showroom. Obviously I spent a lot of time around the vehicle, but never got to drive it. Ordered one anyway.
When mine finally came in, the first time I drove it was when I took it home. ZERO regrets.
I was in love with this car the second I drove it off the lot.
Got it home and then spent a good amount of time going through the manual and setting things up to my liking.
I still get giddy when I take it out.
It also gets tons of looks, and more than one person has come up to me in parking lots asking about the car.
After almost a year, I have 2,300 Kms on it (about 1,400 miles). Nicely broken in.

Great story! And congratulations on your new Stinger! Can you imaging you never knew about it until recently? For such an amazing car, Kia didn't go a very good job marketing it... Anyway, share a few pictures of your Stinger AND your Mercury Marauder! I love both...

Hey @Sleeper,

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase.

That test drive always stings hard.

I love the Marauders, I never see those anymore.

Let me know if I can help you with anything!
