I am retiring in March and moving to Nevada (from Illinois). I drive a P85D Model S now but will not bring it to Nevada as I will be living in the desert mountains off a long gravel road. I need to replace the Tesla and am intrigued by the Stinger. I’ve have had most of the prestige brands before so I am behind that.

As I have never driven a Stinger (or seen one live) my question is how is the access to the vehicle? My wife has a bad back and if the Stinger is hard to get into and climb out of it will be my problem. Everything I have researched about the Stinger is positive. I would order the GT2 AWD in Ceramic/Red.

Please advise on the entry/exit ease. If it’s like falling into or climbing out of a hole, it may not be for us.

Hi Peter! Welcome to the site! Getting in and out of the Stinger should feel the same as your Tesla. It's nothing like a Corvette if that's what you're thinking. It feels exactly the same as getting in and out of a Kia Optima which is the same as any popular mid size family car. I hope that helps!

Getting in and out of the front seats isnt terrible, the rear seats are a nightmare though...

When you get some free time I would suggest checking out your local dealership and try one for yourself. Everyone has their own opinion until you try it yourself :)

Welcome, Peter! My dad has bad hips and back. While he does have difficulty getting in and out, there is a handle at the roof of all doors that he uses to help him get in and out. It still may not be for you, though. As @Paul @ K8 Stinger Store said, visit your dealership and see if it's right for you.

Welcome aboard, Peter! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you came here to research the Stinger as you will get real, honest opinions and answers to your questions. For me, getting in and out of the Stinger feels the same as the Honda Accord. But it's definitely a good idea to go check one out and see for yourself. It's a really great car and since you have a P85D - I'm sure you'll appreciate the performance. Personally, I think you'll be more comfortable inside the Stinger, luxury-wise...

Welcome to the site and congratulations on retirement!

The car and seats are a bit low. I'm not familiar with seat height in what you are driving now, however. I STRONGLY recommend you take her with you to see a car in person. Make a day trip somewhere for it if you have to! :D

What made you choose Nevada, if I may ask?

I forgot about the handles above each door! My wife holds on to hers when I'm driving in the snow. LOL

Thanks. No state income tax and close to the grandkids (Sacramento).

There's a Stinger Salon (mini showroom) in Skokie. No sales people, just generally knowledgeable demonstration staff. Most likely will be a GT2 on display.

→ click the Salons tab to see latest locations

Edit: I don't know what is wrong, but i can't get that link to post without the "meta" errors. It should still be clickable, just a link to the main Kia page for the Stinger:

www.kia.com/us/en/vehicle/stinger/2018/overview
(only displays properly when I omit the http/https prefix)
Both links are working for me. Is the top one broken for you?

The links work, but the auto-insertion of the page title is broken: {{mctrl.meta.metaTitle}}
I couldn't figure out how to disable that, and just show a normal hyperlink without a broken title.

Sorry, it's an "all or nothing" option with the software...

Well this is a GT coupe style car, so the seats are not going to be on SUV level ... saying this, because my retired father with his knee operations has selected an SUV for just that reason. And when I was at the Stingers Premiere, and older Visitor asked me how it is to get out of this low seat. That said, I doubt they're much lower than a Tesla 85S, which isn't an SUV either.

Also, in my swiss edition (which has all options in), the steering wheel and the electric seat will push away when you want to exit the vehicle, giving you more space to turn etc, so that's a plus. Also, the Stingers seats aren't particularly low inside the vehicel, rather the opposite (which is why I at 1.88m can JUST properly seat in it in a select positions, otherwise I hit the roof).

Welcome Peter! As others have said, it's going to come down to personal preference and you have to check one out yourself to see how it fares.

My 90 year old mother doesnt like my Stinger for the vary reasons you have concerns , but she's 90 not 65 so if your wife likes the Tesla and finds it OK for entry/exit I'm sure the Stinger will be similar , the gravel/dirt roads would be a question for me though , may sustain some unwanted road damage ??

Just bite the bullet and get the new xc40.
