This new design has peaked my interest. The factory bars, along with all the aftermarket options available don't really provide much increase in stiffness because they just tie each individual strut tower to the weak rad support. I think they're more about supporting the radiator and looking cool than anything else. But this new option adds in a 3rd bar tying both bars together which might actually create some real results. Unfortunately it's not available yet.

As an engineer, I can't see that this added bar would do much of anything. Lateral forces from the added horizontal would be applied mid-span to the main longitudinal bars - where they are weakest. Likely the attempt at a gusset in the corner is due to welds cracking as this is just not that strong.

Does not look like it would be worth the $$ (whatever that is) -- and I don't like the looks either.

Just my opinion...

300 usd is what I saw it listed at and it's made of T6063 aluminum. Thanks for your techincal feedback.

There’s actually a really stout tubular sub structure bracing the coil bucket. It’s covered up by all the plastic trim at the rear corners of the engine bay.

If nothing else I like the look of the new brace. Nice wrinkle finish too.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yes, as this braces point to point instead of indirectly, it transfers forces better. That's why this is the typical strut tower brace design you see. Put one on a couple cars ago and it made a noticable difference - really calmed the front end down and made it a lot more predictable.

Is there insufficient clearance on the Stinger to accomodate a strut tower brace that connects the 2 strut towers?

Is the radiator support some sort of plastic?
Yes and no. It's both. Most of the inner square is metal while the outside bits are plastic. This new brace is actually stronger than the radiator support lol. Even the stock oem is stronger.
