Well, I finally put my money where my mouth is. I had applauded Kia for making the Stinger then promptly bought a GT350 followed by a Genesis 5.0 and a 911. The Genesis being my daily was getting up near 100k miles and I was looking to move on. The New G80 is too soft and the G80 sport was more $ then I could justify for a company car (hell it is more then my GT350 was). After a LOT of looking I went and drove a Stinger gt2 awd. It will not be as well behaved as the Genesis on the highway, and I will miss that V8, but the Stinger is a much more dynamic car and the hatch makes it far more usable. My only concern is that mid corner behavior that happens occasionally. What is the fix for it? swaybars? chassis bracing? has this been solved? Thanks!

sorry my post count is not high enough to post links yet (even if they are from this forum) search this site for a thread by the title:

"Have you had issues with your rear end?" look at post 4

Ok

Rear end stepping out a lot? Yes once my tires warm up it doesn't as much but with all the nannies activated I only seldomly have that issue. But yes it does happen when cold. Are you gassing it much around bends? Just curious.

Picking up the car Friday, I have just read about it so far. Something to keep an eye on is all. I don't want to do to much to the Stinger, but if a simple thing yields a large improvement I would be interested. The 911 and GT350 have some mods. I want one comfy car for long drives or people moving.

I noticed that you will be picking up an AWD you should not have any issues. I have RWD so I see more rear wheel spin when I'm hard on the gas around corners before tires warm up. With the traction control and stability control active I don't have issues as much. Especially once tires warm up.

the 'stepping out in the rear' trait is more of a 3.3l thing. my premium on a/s tires doesn't do it. the gt1 has eibach sways front and rear. the rear sway bar is the single most improvement to corner handling that you can get. I say 'eibach' because that is what I have, but Ima sure the other aftermarket sways are just as good. you'll notice that the 'stepping out' mid-corner doesn't happen or is greatly reduced. the steering might become more touchy, as in approaching the point where you get tire noise in the curve the steering gets lighter, like the wheel wants to easily turn tighter and you have to hold it back or watch for it. but when you put the front sway on as well, suddenly the steering and body roll are stabilized, the steering feels much more consistent throughout. after having just the rear bar for quite a while, the change in steering and handling feel when I added the front bar was even more noticeable. after that I became a cornering fiend because I no longer had to wait to fight off the change in steering input.

Is the read end stepping out (when going over bumps) still a thing? I have yet to notice it in my car. Maybe I am not pushing it hard enough in corners?

I really haven't read much of this issue with the recent model year Stingers, which makes me wonder if Kia did some undocumented suspension changes. Was it ever an issue on the G70 as well?

Sway bars make a huge difference and I agree and recommend them!

Thanks all, I have purchased the subframe collars, eibach rear bar, power stop z23 pads and a few other things. I will probably do the front bar but I want to see how the car behaves when set up a little looser. Once I wear out the tires I think I will go to lightweight wheels and better tires. I have a dedicated wheel setup for snows.
