What’s up stinger fam, I’m trying to get my Kia to stage one & I’m wondering what should I put in it first? I’m not sure what kind of Intakes I should get stuck between K&N, Injen, or BMS. Blow off Valve HKS? Or turboXS? Also if I get downpipe+mid pipe combo kit do I need to get an exhaust system?? I have the money to make the moves just need a little help, this is a new world to me nd I’m excited to get into it.

If you have the money, all you need is a little bit of time to search and read a threads that will answer all the questions you posted. Most of the "upgrades " you mentioned wont give you any performance gains. They will change the sound. And everyone has a different taste here. Not trying to be rude. And welcome to the forum.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Just letting you know that I moved this topic out of the community lounge and into the main Stinger area...

Thank you for taking the time to help me out. What can I do to help the performance of my stinger?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Search for ECU and TCU tunes.

If all you're doing is looking for more HP/TQ, you're looking for a tune. Whether that be a piggyback using a JB4 or Lap3 protuner, or an ECU tune. Going that route you'll need to change out your spark plugs and have them gapped properly. Then you'll need to figure out the "Map" you can use based on the gas/fuel/E30/WMI/CPI etc you're using or wanting to use.

Just adding intakes and modding the exhaust won't do much of anything without adding one of the tunes.

BOV's won't do anything but make more sound.
As other have suggested, start with a tune. For beginning tuning, get a JB4, you can easily select different maps for all kinds of scenarios all the way from 91 pump gas to E30 mixes and CPI or WMI.

Dedicated tunes are great down the road when you learn more about it, and the JB4 is still useful even with dedicated tunes.

I wanna upgrade my stinger performance wise but some of the mods will help keep my engine cool and also help my turbos right?
As long as you properly maintain the vehicle, oil changes on schedule, filters clean or replace when necessary, fluids at the proper level, you shouldn't have any issues.

I’ve been trying lap3 bc they seem legit but it’s hard to get a reply sometime. What’s the best map? I’ll probably keep my stinger at stage one maybe stage 2. Do you know any places I can take it so I can have the spark plugs gapped properly? Or any suggestions. Thank you for the help btw

How insane do you want to go?
I started with a jb4 and plugs running map 1 and map 2. Then I got a Lozic TCU (from another forum member, keep an eye on the classifieds section of this forum). Then I got a BMS intercooler, MBRP exhaust and tried E30 on map 4.
Now I am running WMI and getting 11.80 in the 1/4 mile. Everything was an upgrade, didn't have to scrap anything I had done before.
Make it a journey, enjoy the ride.

Welcome into the open almost a whole month later. :D

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the only mod I have yet: sway bars. Sure acceleration is intoxicating. But handling the twisty bits is my thing, and the stock 3.3L has more than enough zap to satisfy me (so, I won't be adding anything to that side of the conversation).

I installed the rear Eibach bar c. ten months into ownership, after reading a lot of verbiage on here about how much difference the rear bar alone makes in the handling feel. A year and a half later I had paid enough attention to the advice to get the front bar too, so, I put it in: and wow, I was surprised to feel even more improvement than I had with the rear bar only: continuous steering feedback, instead of having to adjust to "jabs" of understeer - where the steering wheel suddenly "bites" tighter than you give it, without any tighter steering to go along with it, which returns the message that you've lost your ability to steer into this corner: that can be an alarming sensation! I had made the adjustment to all that (this is counter intuitive to the wisdom which says that you should go to a softer front bar to reduce understeer: I can only describe what I experienced: which was that when I put in the stiffer rear bar, the understeer I had already experienced stock was less after the install - which is according to the wisdom: put in a stiffer rear bar to reduce understeer; putting in the stiffer front bar should have brought the stronger understeer back, not reduced/eliminated it!?), anticipating those sudden pulls inside of the steering wheel: now, with the stiffer Eibach front bar, that tendency has utterly disappeared and I get the buttoned down handling from the rear and smooth steering feedback without variation.

Hey FriendlessJ,

Welcome to the Stinger Forum and congrats on the new car!

It looks like you are on the right track to building this Stinger into a beast.

I personally went with Wrinkle Red Injen Intakes (CLICK HERE) on my car and love them.

HKS Sequential Valves (CLICK HERE) are one of the best options as far as Blow Off Valves go, they automatically adjust based on how you drive.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, need further assistance, or if you would like a discount on your order!

Enjoy the new ride,

This really is a sneaky good point. Straight-line power is all fine and dandy, but the Stinger is made for the twisties. Gotta be able to put that power down and reliably corner for it to mean anything.

^^ I'm split between wanting a TCU tune or sways and springs.
TCU tune is great for launches, probably helps with an AWD model more than it does RWD.
With my Lozic TCU, I launch at about 2900 RPM and 7 pounds of boost.
Also, the shifting feels very crisp, but if you want buttery smooth shifts, a TCU is not for you.

Hey welcome!! I have the Vivid Racing CAIs atm but I used to have the K&N. Loved both but I am getting better cooling with the vivid racing ones with the filters being larger.

AS for BOV- I currently have a JB4 and was having pretty bad overboost issues. Called a local tuner shop that took a look at things and recommended I get the Tial Q 50mm BOV with a single bov mishimoto adapter. Cleared all my overboost issues. Car is way more reponsive and doesn't go limp (plus cool noises)

For exhaust, I'm running the borla catback with the ark performance midpipes/secondary downpipes and I'm super impressed. A lot of people here don't recommend going the primary route because of the high risk of snapping the turbo bolt (and from what I've read it's at least a 24 hour job).

Make sure to upgrade your spark plugs. Most people go with the HKS or Denso plugs. I have the HKS plugs gapped at 0.022

For better control and handling, I also definitely recommend sway bars and springs. Thing handles like a beast with both of those.

Hope this helps!

Not sure why a BOV would fix an overboost issue.

Thought it was weird at first too, guess more about controlling the boost levels. It stopped my car from going limp in Map 2+ too. Oddly enough seemes to do the trick though, logs came back a lot better. They said they’ve seen the issue many times on 3.3 stinger/genesis platform and that’s helped
