I just purchased my brand new Kia 2019 premium stinger in Pantera metal. It was a dealer trade, driven from Ocala, Florida to Coral Springs, Florida. I had switched colors (from white) at the last minute and, having had to redo all the signing, hurriedly and stupidly, when signing the new papers did not look at the mileage. The car was being traded with a different dealer because I had switched colors. The car arrived with a total of 339 miles on it. The driving distance between the two dealerships is 270 miles. That means the car already had 70 miles on it while at the dealership. I understand it’s a 2019 but still seems like a lot of mileage. In addition the car came with pinstriping which was never mentioned to me, yet there was no mention of it on the window sticker. I am worried that the car might have been bought, used and returned up in Ocala. Between the mileage and the pinstriping, it gives me great pause. Help, I would like some feedback by you experts out there. Thoughts?

Get the dealer to provide the carfax. It should show if it was previously registered.

This forum is meant for posting experiences with specific dealers (put in the thread title), not general discussion about purchasing. There's a dedicated forum for that.

Seems possible, but not likely. I can drive 70 miles in a day in the Charlotte area easy. It seems reasonable to me that several test drives, combined with dealership usage could add up to 70 miles fairly easily. As @eflyguy said, previous registrations should be easily determined. I wouldn't be that happy either, but in the big scheme of things, it won't matter a few months from now. Enjoy your new car and keep us posted should anything come up!

sorry, did not realize where to put it

google your VIN, it may already be out there.

70 miles on a 2019 does not seem excessive at all. A few test drives while it was on the lot would easily put that mileage on it.

Mine had about 100 miles. It also sat on the lot for a number of months. I got a great deal and the color combo I wanted, so it didn't bother me much. It has driven perfect since new. A few test drives aren't going to be hard on a new car.

Look at it this way - that's 339 miles you don't have to spend breaking it in.

Pinstriping will be easy to remove. Just let the dealer know you weren't informed of the pinstriping and they should be able to remove it free of charge.

mine had 500 miles on it when I bought it brand new. Owner of dealership was driving it. Was able to use that to reduce the price a little more.

Now this becomes even more complicated. After getting the carfax myself online, my Stinger shows 13 miles recorded in Ocala dealership and 240 mileage when first brought to Coral Springs from Ocala. The papers I signed had 339 and so did the car. 100 miles more? I asked my
sales manager and he told me that it must be human error in putting 240 (said maybe they meant to put 340). He assured me that nobody drove the car and it sat for 3 days right outside his window until I got down here. I guess I will just have to let it go....

I've heard of some dealerships (very few) putting the pin striping on their stingers. I've seen a couple of posts about that on this forum. No idea why anyone would do that. As for the 70 miles, chances are that was a combination of test drives and dealership use. Maybe a salesperson had the car for a day. When I bought mine, the salesman told me he got to borrow a yellow one for a couple of days. Not sure why, but that could have been the case here.

Let it go over a mere one hundred miles discrepancy? What are you imagining happened, Ferris Bueller's Day Off? 100 miles is nothing.

5 Miles in an afternoon at the strip or on an autocross track will put quite a bit of wear on the engine and transmission, especially if it's brand new.

It's my choice with my vehicle, but on a supposed "new" sale?

Can you check the stock # of your vehicle on the listing? Not sure if you have a cached version of it (google your vin and click on cached version).
@bizzle discovered that if the stock # has a "U" next to it then it's an "Unwind" meaning that it was bought and returned. I think theres another variant "R" for something else..
