New Nissan Z Proto

I have been following the upcoming launch of the new Z car pretty closely. I like the looks and the proposed power train of a twin turbo 400 hp engine mated with a 6 speed transmission. My 1st new car was a 1986 300ZX Turbo purchased a year after I graduated from college. I loved that car. Rumor is the new Z will start around 35K which is way cheaper than the new Supra.

I don't think Nissan wants to spend it's dwindling resources to design a new engine.

Hmm, except JB4s are available for Supras too.

Those two are going to be pretty competitive with each other (except for starting price) stock or modded. They're destined to become rivals.

I really do not want to see Nissan/Infiniti go under water. Hopefully their sales pick up and their publicity jumps with success with the new Z.

It is a legitimately good engine, Nissan's 3.0 twin turbo. They can push some pretty big numbers on stock internals. Its limitation has been Nissan's rather lethargic automatics that it's been exclusively mated to for so long. They better put a six speed manual behind it like the rumors said they would... would be a shame for it to make the same mistakes the Supra did.
