New Navigation Software Update - April 2022

I am on it, pretty much the same, they got rid of the nixie tubes radio on this one or the last one... i think it was this april one, added audio fade out when you turn the car off/open door. i've done every update since i got the car in 2020, never had an issue.

Just did the April update and it still has the dumb tube radio display.

I think it was the full..

looking at the page I used it looks like it was just the nav..

is there a different page?

Found it, says its closed down for now.

yeah, i did the update and no nixie tube radio display. i thought that was kinda cool, but must have been removed on previous update because i never even got a chance to see it.

i think it downloads the full all the time, the prompt comes up for me when i start the update on the car itself, i don't remember the exact wording but it was like full vs quick or something.

Thanks. Should have done this. I have asked before if this (software updates) should be pinned.

It's a long thread. The April update posts start here.

I just did the update yesterday. When I got her 2 weeks ago the radio had the nixie tube display, now, nope. Not gonna lie; I'm kinda disappointed.

was at the dealership getting serviced this past saturday; kia connect told me i have a navigation update prior to saturday.
i asked the service department about them doing the update. he said it would take 3 to 4 hours.
im just going to update it myself. anything i need to know? download the update on a usb drive. does the car have to be running or in accessory mode? what menus popping up should i expect...etc. how do you know when its complete.

I have the older version so slightly different as i use the sd card... however if the version is several versions behind, i have seen my friends update take several hours... if it's only one behind i've seen it go as quickly as 50 min... You can be in accessory mode but if it takes that long you'll want to be on a battery tender/charger to avoid killing the battery.. and you don't want to be starting it during the update as that'll probably kill the update..

what a strange way to update. cant believe you have to have the car running for that long. ill have to do it on a saturday and sit in my driveway.

3 or 4 hours is a GREAT exaggeration. I think the longest it took mine was about 50 minutes. If you don't have a battery tender to hook up while the car is in accessory mode, then yeah you'll want to do it while the car is running. Do not start or stop the car in the middle of the update as you could corrupt the update.

if the version is quite a bit behind.... it does take longer... my sister in laws telluride with the similar wide screen infotainment with usb update was 4 updates behind... it took over 4 hours to complete... my coworkers 2020 palisade was also never updated since purchase new and took 6 hours(they didn't think it would take so long so it was sitting running in his driveway for 6 hours    )... but when they did the most recent one after the april release, since they were just updating to the next version it finished in 50 min.

Damn that's pretty crazy. I just figured it would be like most updates of the sort where it just replaces the "system" partition and does whatever updates, considering it's android based. Good to know though. Guess I'll make sure to keep it updated.

Trickle charger FTW. My update took about 30 minutes with replacing the SD card, can't use a USB for the nav as its all saved on the SD card.
