Hey everyone I am Steve and live in Columbus, Ohio. I joined as I am looking to purchase a new car and the Stinger did catch my eye. I am looking at the base red GT and it appears Kia made about 10 of them for USA as no one seems to have them in stock. The only reason I am looking is because my 2005 Chrysler 300C (5.7 liter hemi) engine blew two weeks ago. Only had 144,000 miles and after all the care I took of that car I will say Chrysler is dead to me. When I purchase a car I will keep it until it dies so long-term longevity is extremely important to me. That being said I do have some serious misgivings about the Stinger but will keep an open mind. I plan on taking a test drive the next couple of days and that should help. I will continue to browse the forums and I did like the lease and purchase after one month information. Thanks everyone.

Well, depends on what you call "...all the care I took of that car..." but 13 years and 144,000 miles isn't too bad if you run it hard ("blew an engine?")

But if it makes you feel any better, Kia has a 10 year / 100,000 power train warranty on this car which is much greater than any other manufacturer, so they have some confidence in it.

Go drive one. You'll understand the reason for all the comments here. :)

What are your misgivings?

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Sorry to hear about your 300C - but I'm sure the Stinger GT would be one heck of a replacement...

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
welcome to the hive. as for the 300, most of my cars are driven hard, regular maintenance, etc, was there a service bulletin for your particular engine? either way, enjoy your stinger. great group of people on this forum. heck, they allowed me in

I did a good job following the maintenance schedule for the 300C. I changed fluids, belts, hoses when dictated and changed all 16 spark plugs and wires twice. Changed oil every 3 to 4 thousand with Mobile 1 synthetic. I did not drive it that hard. Usually about 7 miles over what ever the speed limit is and stayed away from jack rabbit starts and I start to break at least 100 feet from where I need to stop. I have not had a speeding ticket since 1995 so I can't be driving that fast. I did have the car hit 90 twice in the years I had it but even then it was a gradual increase from 70.

No service bulletin that I was able to find and no notification from my Chrysler dealer. From the research I did after the fact it was probably a dropped valve seat that was the culprit. The 05 through 08 5.7 liter engine had the issue and the SRT group advised Chrysler to replace the seats and they quietly made the change starting with the 09 hemi.

Up until one month ago I do not believe I have ever said the word Kia unless it was used in a sentence similar to Why would you purchase one of those? The fact that the Stinger is a first year production is a concern, I know the engine has been used in the G80 and I know there has been a significant amount of testing but no amount of planning will ever account for real world driving and that applies to all auto manufactures.
