Hi, just purchased a 2019 GT2, ceramic silver with red interior. Just read some posts about bad looking silver door trim, which my car had. Any luck getting Kia to fix this under warranty as second owner? Really surprised at poor quality.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Stinger! What did the Stinger replace for you? I'm glad you found us. :)

Howdy and welcome. The dark chrome window trim is warrantied to the original owner for 36K months. I think you're going to have fix it yourself. My first spots only appeared the morning after my 36 months (just kidding, but it really was shortly after the 36 months mark). I had been watching for any first signs of spotting. My solution was to get on it right away with rubbing compound (by hand), then polishing compound: but crap, the spots did indeed go away, and the area I had rubbed/polished was now brighter than the rest of the dark chrome finish. So, I went over all six pieces to even the finish and then put three coats of wax. So far, so good: I have one lighter patch at the rear end of the piece over the driver's door: not enough of a flaw to get me to tackle it again. And so far, no more spots appearing.

When I priced new pieces last summer, they totaled (with tax) $579.19. I haven't bothered to see how much a body shop would charge to paint them piano (gloss) black to match the pieces of trim that are that color on all Stingers: most noticeably the two that run parallel to the dark chrome on the sides of the windshield: I think that is the best way to go if you are not going to rub the spots out and wax/ceramic coat them, or replace them.

Hey RayStingerGT2,

Welcome to the Stinger Forum and congrats on your new Kia!

The ceramic silver paired with the red interior is one of the most loved combos.

I personally decided to use Dark Tint Window Visors and a black chrome delete wrap.

I should have got these sooner, but if you get the window visors from K8 Stinger store, that will take care of the door trim pieces. the window visors are very sleek and actually improve the look of the car IMO. Before that I had actually wrapped one side in gloss black, which was a pain, but looked amazing, and I spray painted the other side gloss black, which looked decent, just not as good as the wrap. I also spray painted the two pieces that run along the hatch. they all come off very easy and it will solve the issue once and for all, plus it looks better gloss black. But again, get the window visors and just spray paint the hatch pieces gloss black and you are good to go. IMG_1644.webpIMG_1642.webp

Okay, I’ll look into the visors. Disappointed that Kia doesn’t take care of this.
